What CreateMod.com Schematics MCP server does

The CreateMod.com Schematics MCP server lets an MCP-compatible agent search and inspect the public Minecraft Create Mod schematic library. Its scope is deliberately read-only: agents can discover entries and retrieve information about them, but they cannot create, edit, or delete schematics through the server.

Search results can be narrowed using search terms and categories. A schematic lookup returns available reference details, including its description, author, rating, supported game versions, required mods, and associated video when provided by the site. The server does not provide schematic .nbt files to agents. Instead, the agent directs the user to the schematic page when a download is needed.

How it works

The primary endpoint is the remote MCP service at https://createmod.com/api/mcp. Clients send MCP requests to that endpoint, and the service exposes two documented tools: search_schematics for library searches and get_schematic for details about one schematic. The endpoint is public and does not require authentication.

CreateMod.com Schematics MCP server can be used through the repository's Claude Code plugin, as a custom connector in claude.ai or Claude Desktop, or from Claude Code with an HTTP MCP registration. The plugin adds the accompanying skills in addition to the MCP tools. The same skills reflect the versions published by CreateMod.com in its agent-skills index.

An npm package named createmod-mcp supplies a stdio bridge for MCP clients that cannot connect to a remote server directly. The project is also published in the MCP Registry as com.createmod/schematics.

Setup and configuration

For Claude Code, install the repository plugin with:

No account, API key, or other environment variable is required for the remote MCP tools. Clients without remote-server support can use the createmod-mcp npm stdio bridge instead. The repository links to the package and documents its use in the npm/ directory.
