Open the AI Assistant MCP settings
In your JetBrains IDE, go to Settings → Tools → AI Assistant → Model Context Protocol (MCP). This requires the AI Assistant plugin to be installed and enabled.

Add a server or paste JSON
Click Add, then either fill in the command and arguments or switch to the JSON view and paste an mcpServers block. Configs from Claude Desktop can be imported as-is.

Apply and use the tools in chat
Apply the settings, then open AI Assistant chat. The server status shows on the MCP settings page, and its tools become available to the assistant.
