What Landprice MCP server does

The Landprice MCP server exposes official Japanese land-price records from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s 不動産情報ライブラリ. It covers 地価公示, the national standard land-price survey available from 1995 onward, and 地価調査, the prefectural survey available from 1997 onward.

The main use case is finding appraised land prices near a location in Japan. Results are returned for standard land-price points within a map tile and include the selected price in yen per square metre, the previous year’s price, the percentage change from the prior year, the address, the land-use category, and the nearest station.

How it works

Call landprice_points with a latitude, longitude, and year. The service determines the map tile covering the supplied coordinates and returns the relevant surveyed points in that tile. This makes coordinate-based lookups suitable for questions about official land prices at or near a Japanese location.

The requested year is an input to the lookup, while the response provides both the selected-year value and a prior-year comparison.

Setup and configuration

For a remote MCP connection, add the Pipeworx pack endpoint to an MCP client:

The pack endpoint lists landprice_points along with shared Pipeworx gateway tools. These include routing and discovery tools such as ask_pipeworx, discover_tools, and search_within; the exact tool scope is reported by the connection’s initialize response. The full gateway endpoint is also available when direct access to all packs is preferred.

A local installation requires no Pipeworx account and uses the npm package through stdio:

The local process communicates over standard input and output and exposes only this pack’s tools. HTTP clients can call the gateway tool directly with a JSON POST to /v1/tools/landprice_points; the documented request includes lat, lon, and year.

Tools and capabilities

landprice_points is the pack-specific tool. It retrieves official 地価公示 and 地価調査 points from the MLIT source, using geographic coordinates and a year to identify the requested coverage. The tool is appropriate for comparing a point’s selected-year price with its prior-year price and for obtaining contextual details such as address, use category, and nearest station.

When using the gateway endpoint, ask_pipeworx can accept a plain-language question and select a suitable tool and arguments. That routing capability belongs to the gateway connection; the standalone Landprice MCP server exposes the pack tool without the shared gateway meta-tools.

Limitations and notes

The tool returns points within the resolved map tile rather than an unrestricted nationwide result set. Use an appropriate zoom level or provide tile coordinates when finer or wider coverage is needed. A latitude, longitude, and year are required for the documented lookup pattern.

The gateway pack endpoint includes shared tools in addition to the Landprice-specific tool, so its listed tool count is larger than the standalone package’s list. No account is needed for the first documented gateway calls, while the local package avoids the gateway round trip entirely.
