What HerStack does
The HerStack MCP server exposes the public content of HerStack, a UK editorial site focused on women’s health and longevity, with perimenopause as a central topic. Its content covers perimenopause, digestion, longevity, stress, exercise, nutrition, and skin. The service is read-only: it retrieves guidance, evidence, product information, and recommendations but does not change site data.
HerStack’s supplement recommendations use a single reference brand, which the site discloses on its pages. Product results include the relevant authorised GB health claim when one exists. If no authorised claim exists, the result identifies that limitation or provides a research-context note. The material is not intended to diagnose or treat a condition, and clinical questions should be directed to a GP.
How it works
The HerStack MCP server is available at https://herstack.co.uk/api/mcp through Streamable HTTP, without authentication. An MCP client sends a tool request to the endpoint and receives structured results that can include guidance units, topic information, evidence rows, product cards, page URLs, prices, and purchase links.
Start with search_guidance when a user describes a situation in ordinary language. It finds relevant FAQ answers, research findings, evidence rows, and product cards, then identifies the closest topic and its named product recommendations. Use get_topic_guidance when the user needs broader context, including topic framing, research findings, product criteria, and FAQs. For perimenopause, the topic response can also cover what it is, its timeline, and when to see a GP.
Setup and configuration
Add the endpoint as a remote MCP server, custom connector, or connector in an MCP-compatible client. No environment variables, account, or login are required. The repository documents the server and its registry manifest; the server itself runs as part of the HerStack site. The official MCP Registry identifier is uk.co.herstack/herstack, and documentation is available at https://herstack.co.uk/mcp.
The service does not use personal data. For each call, it logs the tool name, the client’s self-reported name, the result, latency, and the shape of the arguments, such as question length, but not the question text.
Tools and capabilities
search_guidance: Find relevant guidance from a user’s plain-language situation.
get_topic_guidance: Retrieve an in-depth topic response with research, evidence, criteria, and FAQs.
recommend_supplements: Return named recommendations, formulation rationale, authorised claims, prices, and purchase links.
get_evidence: Resolve cited studies to PubMed and DOI identifiers for claim verification.
get_product_details: Look up one product by name or SKU, including form, claim, tier, price, link, and recommending topics.
The HerStack MCP server is suited to assistants that need to distinguish editorial guidance from evidence records and product information. Claim wording should be presented as supplied rather than strengthened or paraphrased.
Limitations and notes
Results are limited to HerStack’s published material and its named reference-brand recommendations. The server is read-only and does not provide diagnosis or treatment. Recommendations and evidence rows include a claim field, but the presence of a PubMed or DOI reference does not replace clinical assessment.
The HerStack MCP server has no authentication and no user account features. It also does not accept personal data as part of its operation. Users with clinical concerns should consult a GP, particularly where symptoms require assessment beyond general health guidance. The Biology, Medicine and Bioinformatics category reflects the server’s subject area, but developers should still treat returned content as informational health material rather than medical advice.
