The WPPilot MCP server turns a WordPress installation into an MCP endpoint for AI clients. The free plugin covers posts, pages, block-editor content, taxonomies, menus and locations, media with alt text, users, site settings, front-page settings, Elementor documents, accessibility and content audits, search and replace, design documents, skills, and a change ledger with rollback.
Elementor support is included in the free plugin. Agents can inspect an Elementor document, see the widgets and style properties available on the installation, and add, edit, move, duplicate, reorder, or delete elements in its tree. Pro adds broader Elementor authoring features such as full-page composition, templates, theme parts, popups, forms, dynamic tags, global classes, and variables.
WPPilot Pro also extends the endpoint for WooCommerce and other supported plugins, builders, forms, SEO tools, custom-field systems, migration tools, multilingual plugins, events, learning management, memberships, and community features. The supplied material lists 89 integrations, but availability depends on the Pro edition and the plugins installed on the site.
The plugin is built on the WordPress Abilities API and the official WordPress MCP Adapter. Rather than exposing hundreds of separate endpoints, it presents a compact three-tool interface through which clients discover, inspect, and execute typed abilities. WordPress permissions remain in effect, and server-side policies check calls before execution.
The WPPilot MCP server supports the modern stateless protocol revision and the legacy session-based revision during the migration period. Modern requests use per-request metadata; legacy requests use the adapter handshake and MCP session IDs. Modern transport also supports MCP Tasks for background-capable abilities, including task retrieval, result lookup, listing, and cancellation. Cancelling a task does not reverse a write that already completed.
No AI model is included. The connected MCP client supplies model access, while WPPilot applies permissions, safety settings, confirmation checks, and write tracking on the WordPress installation.
Install the downloadable wppilot.zip through WordPress at Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. The repository’s source-code ZIP is not the installable package because it lacks the required vendor/ directory and uses a versioned folder name.
The direct connection is self-hosted on the WordPress site and does not require a licence or API key for the free plugin. Alternatively, WPPilot Cloud provides https://app.wppilot.co/mcp as a shared connection for multiple sites, with OAuth 2.1 and a free allowance for up to three sites. A Pro licence increases the site allowance and adds bulk actions.
The WPPilot MCP server can be used to:
Capabilities depend on the WordPress permissions, installed plugins, active edition, and configured safety profile. Pro-only functions are not available in the free plugin. The server does not bundle an AI model, and the material does not describe a change-notification subscription producer. OAuth client metadata documents are preferred for registration, with dynamic registration and non-OAuth access methods available as fallbacks for compatible clients.
