What the Weio site check MCP server does
The Weio site check MCP server exposes three read-only tools for examining public websites and a limited business index. It is hosted by Weio, while this repository publishes the public tool schemas, registry metadata, configuration examples, and client integrations rather than the server implementation.
check_https(domain) tests both the bare domain and its www form. Results indicate whether a browser can load each address securely, identify issues such as an expired or mismatched certificate, a self-signed certificate, missing HTTPS, redirect failures, or an unreachable site, and include the certificate expiry date when available.
site_info(domain) reads one homepage. It can return the page title and description, language, detected CMS or site builder, mobile viewport metadata, role-based contact addresses, phone numbers, social links, and a contact or about page. Personal-name email addresses are intentionally excluded.
find_businesses(category, area) returns up to 10 entries from a small, dated local scan index. The current dataset covers dental businesses in Fresno County, California, and provides names, websites, and a phone-layout indicator without emails or personal information.
How it works
The Weio site check MCP server uses the streamable HTTP endpoint https://weio.ai/mcp and does not require a local process. Calls are stateless. Clients can connect directly, or the same functionality can be accessed through documented platform alternatives for RapidAPI and Apify accounts.
The free hosted service allows 10 calls per day without signup or a key. Paid access uses a Weio key with credits; the README documents both bearer-token and X-API-Key authentication. Agents can also request credits through Weio's Machine Payments Protocol endpoint. The published examples include direct JSON-RPC usage with curl.
Setup and configuration
Add the endpoint as a remote HTTP MCP server in a compatible client. Claude Code, Claude desktop, Cursor, VS Code, and Gemini CLI examples are included in the repository. A key is optional for the free tier. When using paid credits, pass it as Authorization: Bearer wk_... or X-API-Key: wk_....
The project also provides a Claude Code plugin, a Gemini CLI extension, an Agent Plugins package for VS Code and related products, a Raycast extension, an OpenAI Responses API example, and a Goose configuration example. These are client-specific connection paths; they do not change the three hosted tools.
Limitations and notes
The Weio site check MCP server is limited to public websites. IP addresses, private networks, and non-standard ports are refused. site_info examines only the homepage and does not crawl the rest of a domain.
The business search is not a general directory. Its results come from a small scan index with a stated scan date and currently cover only dental businesses in Fresno County, California. Results can therefore be incomplete or stale outside that scope.
The repository does not contain the hosted server's source code. It documents the interface and connection methods. The README also describes a limit of 30 calls per minute per key, in addition to the free daily allowance and paid-credit model.
