Overview

Voidly Agent Wallet is a local stdio MCP server for managing a Base USDC wallet and making capped x402 payments. It creates and restores encrypted wallet backups, reports balances and funding details, and supports Voidly seller-registration signing without submitting registration. Reach for it when an agent needs controlled payments, local wallet custody, or recovery of an existing Marketplace payment attempt. Node.js 20 or newer is required.

Use cases

  • Create a local Base USDC wallet for an agent
  • Restore an encrypted wallet from local or Relay backup
  • Make x402 payments within a maximum USD amount
  • Generate a USDC funding URI and QR code
  • Recover an uncertain Voidly Marketplace payment

Key features

  • Local encrypted wallet storage
  • Base USDC balance and funding details
  • Capped x402 payments
  • Relay backup and restoration
  • Voidly Marketplace payment recovery
  • Seller-registration challenge signing

How Voidly Agent Wallet works

What Voidly Agent Wallet does

Voidly Agent Wallet provides an agent-facing wallet for USDC on Base. The wallet is held locally, with encrypted backup and recovery flows rather than command-line private-key input. Through MCP, an agent can inspect wallet capabilities, create or restore a wallet, obtain its address, check its USDC balance, and generate funding information.

Payment support centers on x402 requests and Voidly Marketplace operations. The wallet can retain Marketplace payment coordinates, recover the result of an original payment attempt, and prepare a signed Voidly seller-registration request. Seller registration preparation returns the request path and body but does not submit the registration.

How it works

The package includes an ESM library, a local stdio MCP server, and the voidly-agent-wallet CLI. MCP hosts communicate with the local process over stdio. Wallet creation stores an encrypted backup before returning the wallet address. Recovery can use the local encrypted backup or a client-encrypted Relay backup.

A recovery secret can be generated through MCP, but it must be treated as sensitive and saved in an external secret manager before creating a wallet. Relay restoration additionally uses VOIDLY_AGENT_KEY. The wallet can also save another encrypted backup in Relay memory and return its backup key.

Payments use the loaded wallet and configured Base RPC. The x402 payment tool accepts a request method, optional body, and maximum amount in USD. Marketplace recovery uses the original payment identity and does not send a second payment, which is important for uncertain or incomplete payment results.

Setup and configuration

Use Node.js 20 or newer. From a source checkout, install dependencies and build the package:

Terminal
npm ci
npm run build

The resulting CLI can print an offline guided workflow with node dist/cli.js quickstart. An installed package exposes the voidly-agent-wallet command. The guide can target Base Sepolia by default or Base mainnet when explicitly selected; printing it does not access wallet state, create files, sign, or pay.

Set VOIDLY_WALLET_STATE_DIR when the encrypted wallet state should live outside its default directory. Provide the matching VOIDLY_WALLET_RECOVERY_SECRET from a secret manager when restoring or using wallet operations that require recovery material. Relay restoration also requires VOIDLY_AGENT_KEY.

Tools and capabilities

  • voidly_capabilities returns the public capability manifest, including listed actions, endpoints, related endpoints, availability, and coverage without requiring a wallet.
  • wallet_generate_recovery_secret creates a random 32-byte recovery secret.
  • wallet_create, wallet_restore_local, and wallet_restore_relay create or restore the local wallet.
  • wallet_address, wallet_receive_info, and wallet_balance expose the loaded address, receiving network and asset details, and Base USDC balance.
  • wallet_funding_request produces a Base USDC EIP-681 transfer URI and a locally generated SVG QR code.
  • wallet_pay_x402 handles a capped x402 payment request.
  • wallet_prepare_voidly_seller_registration signs a seller-registration challenge without submitting it.
  • wallet_marketplace_attempts lists retained payment coordinates, while wallet_recover_marketplace retrieves the result of the original Marketplace payment.
  • wallet_backup_relay stores an additional encrypted backup in Relay memory.

Limitations and notes

The API is in the 0.x series and may change. Recovery material and encrypted wallet state should remain under the operator's control. A Marketplace payment that is held, incomplete, or possibly settled must be recovered using its original attempt; starting another purchase can create a second payment.

A generated quickstart guide is only an offline instruction document. It does not select a seller, authorize a budget, or provide approval for execution. Mainnet operations require deliberate network selection and approval. Seller-registration preparation also stops before submission.

Frequently Asked Questions about Voidly Agent Wallet

Voidly Agent Wallet is an MCP server that connects agents to a local Base USDC wallet, Voidly Marketplace payment flows, and Relay backups. Its main tools create and restore wallets, check balances, make capped x402 payments, prepare seller-registration signatures, retain Marketplace attempts, and recover original payment results without paying again.

Install it from a source checkout with Node.js 20 or newer, then run `npm ci` and `npm run build`. The local MCP server and CLI are included in the package, and the CLI can be invoked with `node dist/cli.js` or `voidly-agent-wallet` when installed.

Use `wallet_restore_local` for the local encrypted backup or `wallet_restore_relay` for a client-encrypted Relay backup. Restoration requires `VOIDLY_WALLET_RECOVERY_SECRET`; Relay restoration also requires `VOIDLY_AGENT_KEY`.

Use `wallet_marketplace_attempts` to find the retained payment coordinates, then call `wallet_recover_marketplace` for the original payment. Recovery uses the original identity and does not send another payment, so do not start a new purchase for the same attempt.

Call `wallet_funding_request` to receive the loaded wallet's Base USDC EIP-681 transfer URI and a locally generated SVG QR code. The tool also identifies the receiving address, network, and USDC asset.
