What the Uganda URSB Company, Director & Shareholder Search MCP server does

Uganda URSB Company, Director & Shareholder Search MCP server provides MCP access to Uganda Registration Services Bureau company-register research through The Company Atlas. It covers registered companies and other entities, Business Registration Number (BRN) lookups, and relationships involving directors, company secretaries, and shareholders.

The service is useful when an assistant needs to identify entities by name or registry attributes, inspect one company in detail, or trace the companies associated with a person or corporate body. Returned company information can include capital, former names, roles, nationalities, occupations, and share amounts.

How it works

The repository points clients to The Company Atlas endpoint at https://thecompanyatlas.com/mcp/uganda. The connection uses Streamable HTTP rather than a locally run process. Authentication is handled through Google OAuth; users sign in when prompted and remain authorized for later requests.

Add the endpoint as a custom MCP connector in Claude, Cursor, or another MCP-compatible client. Requests are then routed to The Company Atlas's Uganda URSB connection, which uses the Uganda company register as its data source.

Setup and configuration

No local server installation or environment variable is described. Configure the following MCP endpoint in the client:

When the client requests authorization, sign in with Google. The service is intended for MCP clients that support Streamable HTTP. The repository itself is a connection entry point and does not operate a separate backend server.

Tools and capabilities

The Uganda URSB Company, Director & Shareholder Search MCP server exposes three tools:

• Uganda_search_companies searches URSB-registered entities by a name substring and optional filters such as entity type, industry, active status, and registration date range. At least one search criterion is required. Filters are combined with AND logic, and results support pagination with a maximum page size of 50.
• Uganda_get_company retrieves a complete profile using a BRN, such as 80010000033952. The result can include capital, former names, and each listed director, secretary, and shareholder, along with position, occupation, nationality, and share amounts.
• Uganda_search_parties finds companies where a named person or corporate body appears as a director, secretary, or shareholder. Searches can be narrowed by role, party type, and nationality, with pagination up to 50 results per page.

These tools support questions such as finding active private companies containing a term in their name, reviewing a BRN's ownership and management, or checking a person's company affiliations.

Limitations and notes

The register connection does not return national identification numbers, passport numbers, birth dates, or personal contact details. Name searches use substrings and have documented length requirements: company-name queries accept 3–120 characters, while party-name queries accept 4–120 characters.

The Uganda URSB Company, Director & Shareholder Search MCP server exposes registry research tools, not a general-purpose company-data API. Search results may be paginated, with a default limit of 20 and a maximum of 50 where pagination is supported. Use Uganda_get_company when a precise BRN is available and a full profile is needed.
