What The Profound Agency MCP server does

The Profound Agency MCP server gives AI assistants access to press-placement research across more than 1,600 publications. Agents can filter opportunities by price, Domain Authority, Domain Rating, category, region, turnaround time, Google indexing, and AI-crawler readiness. They can then price selected placements, receive a recommended plan for a stated budget, or open an unpaid order for human payment.

The service also covers related marketing workflows. submit_campaign_brief sends a request for pricing on display, CTV, social, search, audio, or out-of-home media. quick_visibility_check reviews five website basics: AI crawlers in robots.txt, llms.txt, structured data, the title, and the description. request_audit starts a free, human-run AI-visibility audit scored out of 100.

How it works

The Profound Agency MCP server is hosted by The Profound Agency rather than run from this repository. MCP clients connect to https://theprofound.agency/api/mcp/ over Streamable HTTP. The service is stateless and does not require an API key, account, or signup. The trailing slash is part of the documented endpoint configuration.

A typical press workflow starts with search_placements, followed by quote_placements to calculate checkout pricing with fees included. A quote provides a store link with the selected placements in the cart, but it does not reserve them. plan_placements can instead recommend publications from a goal, audience, and budget, with the result already quoted and kept within the budget.

The server exposes 24 tools, 22 of which are read-only. Other tools cover publication details and comparisons, categories, advertising channels, restricted-category rules, meeting availability, order status, and client content workflows. The complete tool inventory is available through the published manifest and documentation.

Setup and configuration

No environment variables or credentials are documented as required. The service publishes MCP metadata at https://theprofound.agency/.well-known/mcp.json.

Limitations and notes

The Profound Agency MCP server does not provide access to a payment method. Creating an order only produces an unpaid order and a human-readable payment link; a person must open the link and pay. Unpaid orders are deleted after 72 hours. Quotes and recommended plans reserve nothing and do not commit the user to a purchase.

Paid-media briefs are requests for a human-prepared quote and do not buy advertising. The full AI-visibility audit is also performed by a person and returned by email, while the quick check is immediate. Use this service when an agent can prepare research and paperwork but a human must approve or complete the transaction.
