What teardrop does
The teardrop MCP server connects applications and software agents to streamed, tool-using AI workflows. A client submits a message or task, and Teardrop coordinates a configured language model with the tools available to that run. Results and interface events are streamed over Server-Sent Events.
The platform supports MCP for tool access, AG-UI for streaming interaction, and A2A for agent discovery and delegation. Agents can discover opted-in specialists with discover_agents and delegate work with delegate_to_agent. Delegation supports allowlists, JWT forwarding, per-run quotas, destination cost caps, and optional credit billing controls.
Teardrop also provides a marketplace of caller-facing built-in tools. The README states that 31 metered platform tools are available, with catalog and pricing endpoints for discovery. Organizations can publish webhook tools, import tools from external MCP servers, and optionally publish one remote A2A endpoint in the public directory.
How it works
Direct MCP calls use GET /tools/mcp. Platform tools are exposed by bare name, while published organization tools use an {org_slug}/{tool_name} naming form. Tool metadata can include price and observed-quality information. Direct calls and tool calls made during /agent/run are billed according to the applicable pricing rules; marketplace prices are separate from token costs.
Agent runs use POST /agent/run and can invoke platform tools or pinned community tools. Marketplace subscriptions are pins for agent-run tool sets, not recurring payment plans or grants of direct MCP access. The older /mcp/v1 endpoint is deprecated and scheduled to sunset on 2026-10-29.
Optional x402 settlement supports pay-per-request USDC on Base. Credit billing is also available, including organization-level and caller-principal spending limits. Marketplace earnings can be swept to a configured settlement wallet through Coinbase Developer Platform, subject to the settlement state described by the platform.
Setup and configuration
Enable the platform marketplace with MARKETPLACE_ENABLED=true. Auto-sweeping is controlled by MARKETPLACE_AUTO_SWEEP_ENABLED and related MARKETPLACE_* settings. Verified organizations can receive onboarding credit only when ONBOARDING_CREDIT_ENABLED=true; this option is disabled by default.
The API provides catalog, quote, author, agent, billing, and settlement endpoints. Organizations use authenticated administrative or organization-bound credentials for actions such as publishing tools, registering marketplace agents, configuring payouts, and requesting withdrawals. The material does not specify installation commands, package requirements, or a default local transport.
Tools and capabilities
The teardrop MCP server supports:
- Listing and invoking marketplace tools through MCP.
- Running model-backed workflows with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or OpenRouter.
- Discovering and delegating to opted-in A2A agents.
- Publishing organization webhook tools and imported external MCP tools.
- Inspecting catalog prices, tool metadata, author information, and reputation metrics.
- Paying for eligible calls with credits or x402 USDC on Base.
- Granting limited verified-email onboarding credit to eligible organizations.
Use it when an agent needs controlled access to paid tools or delegation rather than a local-only MCP process. Pricing, authentication, pins, allowlists, and settlement state should be evaluated before exposing it to autonomous workloads.
