We couldn’t confirm it starts correctly

The install command started, but didn't respond the way we expected when we tried to talk to it.

npx -y korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp

initialize succeeded but no response to tools/list.

This is an experimental automated check and can have false negatives — missing environment variables, a slow cold install, etc. It doesn’t necessarily mean something’s wrong. Last checked 26d ago.

Overview

korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp MCP server lets AI clients query Korea’s 2022 revised elementary education curriculum and its learning graph. It runs locally over stdio with packaged data covering 11 subjects, 620 achievement standards, 1,956 topics, 1,894 prerequisite links, and 153 learning clusters. Nine tools support curriculum browsing, keyword and official-text search, detailed lookups, prerequisite paths, roadmaps, and cluster queries. Reach for it when an agent needs Korean elementary curriculum references without a network connection after installation.

Use cases

  • Search Korean elementary achievement standards by subject and grade band
  • Retrieve official curriculum wording for a standard code
  • Trace prerequisite and follow-on learning topics
  • Build a subject and grade-band curriculum roadmap
  • Explain learning clusters to parents

Key features

  • Local stdio execution with bundled curriculum data
  • Search across 620 achievement standards
  • Full official standard-text lookup
  • Topic, assessment, and evidence retrieval
  • Prerequisite graph traversal
  • SHA-256 data integrity validation

How Korean Elementary Learning Map MCP works

What korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp does

The korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp MCP server provides read-only access to a structured learning map for Korea’s 2022 revised elementary curriculum. Its packaged dataset includes 11 subjects, 620 achievement standards with official source text, 1,956 detailed learning topics, 1,894 prerequisite relationships, and 153 learning clusters. The data is intended for questions about curriculum coverage, teaching topics, assessment prompts, and relationships between concepts.

The server belongs in the 🎓 Education category and is useful for curriculum exploration, lesson planning, learning-path analysis, and parent-facing explanations. Achievement standards are sourced from public National Curriculum Information Center materials, while topics, dependencies, and clusters come from the referenced learning-map dataset.

How it works

The korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp MCP server communicates through stdio, so an MCP client starts it as a local child process. Its data is bundled with the npm package; after the initial package download, normal queries do not require network access. At startup, each data file is checked against its recorded SHA-256 value, and the process refuses to start if the packaged data does not match.

Search uses NFC-normalized substring matching rather than morphological analysis. Standard searches prioritize exact code matches and then rank partial keyword matches. Invalid codes or topic IDs produce Korean error messages with up to three similar candidates, which can help an agent correct common formatting mistakes.

The learning roadmap groups existing records by subject, grade band, domain, and module. It does not infer or generate a new sequence. Prerequisite links form subject-specific directed acyclic graphs; they are recommendations from the dataset model, not a universal claim about how every learner must progress.

Setup and configuration

Node.js 20.11 or newer and npx are required. The shortest setup for Claude Code is:

Terminal
claude mcp add curriculum-kr -- npx -y korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp

Claude Desktop uses the same command and argument pair in its MCP configuration file. Codex CLI can register it with codex mcp add curriculum-kr -- npx -y korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp. Other stdio-capable clients, including Cursor, use npx with -y korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp as the arguments. No environment variables are documented as required.

For application code, the package also exposes createLearningMap(). This API can read standards and search topics directly without launching a separate stdio process, while retaining the same startup integrity checks. The programmatic API is read-only.

Tools and capabilities

The korean-elementary-learning-map-mcp MCP server exposes nine tools:

  • list_curricula lists subjects, grade bands, domains, and standard counts.
  • search_standards filters standards by query, subject, grade band, domain, and result limit.
  • search_standard_text searches the full official wording and returns matching snippets.
  • get_standard returns a complete standard, its official text, and linked topics.
  • search_topics finds topics by keyword, subject, grade band, type, or standard code.
  • get_topic returns evidence, assessment prompts, and source information for one topic.
  • get_prerequisites retrieves direct or transitive prerequisite and unlock paths.
  • get_learning_roadmap summarizes a subject and grade band by domain and module.
  • list_clusters lists or retrieves learning clusters, including parent-oriented summaries.

The server also provides an about://korean-elementary-learning-map resource containing release details, dataset counts, licensing information, source-text policy, and disclaimers.
