What Jabama MCP server does
The Jabama MCP server gives an MCP-compatible AI client read-only access to public information from Jabama and its related tour and event services. It covers short-term stays such as villas, suites, and eco-lodges, along with group tours, events, and theater listings in Iran.
For stays, the server can turn Persian place names or free-text requests into search parameters, find properties for selected dates and guest counts, and return filters, sorting, and whole-stay prices. Separate tools provide property details, amenities, house rules, cancellation information, host data, reviews, similar properties, calendar availability, and an exact payable quote. Prices are returned in Toman.
The Jabama MCP server also supports travel planning beyond accommodation. Tour tools expose destinations, departures, package prices, remaining seats, itineraries, inclusions, cancellation terms, and reviews. Event and theater tools cover listings, sessions, ratings, venues, showtimes, seat availability, and section or row pricing where provided.
How it works
The server runs on the user’s machine and communicates with an AI client through MCP over stdio. It then makes HTTPS JSON requests to the public endpoints used by Jabama’s websites, including stay, help, magazine, tour, event, and theater services. There is no hosted intermediary described in the documentation, and the server does not require an API key or user login.
A typical stay workflow starts with jb_find_destination or jb_parse_request, continues with jb_search_stays, and then uses jb_stay_calendar and jb_price_quote for availability and date-specific pricing. Tours commonly use jb_tour_places, jb_search_tours, and jb_tour; events can use jb_search_events, jb_event, and jb_event_seats. Numeric listing identifiers are passed between related calls.
Setup and configuration
Install uv, then run the server with uvx jabama-mcp. Claude Code can add it with claude mcp add jabama -- uvx jabama-mcp. Claude Desktop, Cursor, and VS Code can use a stdio configuration with uvx as the command and jabama-mcp as its argument. Alternatively, install the package with pip and run jabama-mcp directly.
No authentication configuration is required. JABAMA_MCP_PROXY is available as an optional HTTP proxy setting if Jabama blocks the network connection. The documented runtime requirement is Python 3.10 or newer when installing or running the package through the supported tooling.
Tools and capabilities
The 21 tools use the jb_ prefix and return compact JSON. Capabilities include:
- Resolving Persian cities, areas, landmarks, and tour places.
- Parsing natural-language stay requests with Jabama’s AI parser.
- Filtering stays by dates, guests, type, amenities, region, rooms, price, instant booking, and rating.
- Comparing nightly prices, weekends, holidays, discounts, and exact totals.
- Reading cancellation policies, host information, review scores, and guest reviews.
- Finding tours, events, theater plays, sessions, departures, and available seats.
- Retrieving help-center and support answers about cancellation, refunds, payment, and tax.
Limitations and notes
The Jabama MCP server is read-only. It does not log users in, create bookings, hold seats, or process payments, so the user must complete those actions on the relevant website. Availability and prices can change, and search-card prices may differ from the date- and guest-specific quote.
Place names are expected in Persian, although the README says an agent can translate English names. Dates use Gregorian YYYY-MM-DD, ratings use a 0–5 scale, and prices use Toman. The tool documentation describes calendar coverage as approximately 76 days, so it should not be treated as an unrestricted long-range availability source.
