What India Tenders does
The India Tenders MCP server exposes public tender data from official Indian e-procurement sources. It covers the Central Public Procurement Portal, the Ministry of Defence portal, central public-sector undertakings, and state or sector portals for Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Delhi, Coal India, IOCL, and PMGSY. GeM coverage comes from the GeM feed published through CPPP rather than from direct access to the GeM site.
This fits the Search & Data Extraction category. It is useful for finding open procurement opportunities, narrowing results by subject or buying organisation, checking deadlines, and inspecting the commercial and location details of an individual tender.
How it works
The server reads public portal pages and feeds, so no account or API key is required. Portal searches use organisation listings and active-tender pages where keyword search is restricted by captcha. The server applies keyword filtering over the retrieved organisation pages and preserves the session needed to follow organisation-specific links.
The main search functions cover one portal at a time or focus specifically on defence tenders. Organisation lookup returns buyers and their live active-tender counts. A detail lookup accepts a tender identifier and can return the tender type, category, earnest-money deposit, fee, value, location, pincode, and key dates. Separate latest-tender tools read CPPP and CPPP-listed GeM feeds with pagination support.
Each response includes data_as_of. Dates use India Standard Time and are represented as ISO 8601 values with a +05:30 offset.
Setup and configuration
The India Tenders MCP server can be used through the hosted streamable HTTP endpoint:
{
"mcpServers": {
"india-tenders": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/india-tenders/mcp"
}
}
}
It also runs locally as a stdio server through the npm package:
{
"mcpServers": {
"india-tenders": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@pipeworx/mcp-india-tenders"]
}
}
}
The hosted endpoint includes shared Pipeworx gateway tools in addition to the pack-specific tools. The local process exposes only the India Tenders tools. The package can also be called over the gateway's HTTP tool endpoint.
Tools and capabilities
- Search active tenders on a selected central, state, PSU, defence, or sector portal.
- Search defence tenders across defence organisations and selected defence-related sources.
- List buying organisations and their active-tender counts.
- Retrieve full details for a specific tender.
- Read the newest CPPP tenders or GeM bids listed by CPPP.
- Filter searches by query, organisation, closing date, and result limit where supported.
Limitations and notes
Large organisations are excluded unless explicitly requested or enabled. Military Engineer Services is a notable example: its active-tender page can contain thousands of records and may take 30 to 60 seconds to process. The defence search can report secondary portal errors instead of failing when a source is slow.
The India Tenders MCP server is an unofficial integration and is not affiliated with the upstream portals. Direct GeM access was unavailable from outside India during the documented test, so GeM results depend on the CPPP gemdata feed. Portal content and availability can change, and results should be checked against the source portal before procurement decisions.
