What France Dvf does
The France Dvf MCP server provides access to France’s DVF property-transfer records, published by the Direction générale des finances publiques (DGFiP). The dataset contains recorded sales and some other transfer types, including transaction price, commune, parcel, property type, built surface, and coordinates. It covers metropolitan France and the overseas departments included in the release, but excludes Alsace, Moselle, and Mayotte.
This listing belongs to the 🏠 Real Estate category and is suited to agents that need historical transaction lookup or basic local market statistics. The underlying data is address- and parcel-level and does not include personal names.
How it works
Pipeworx maintains a copy of DGFiP’s rolling five-year DVF bulk release. The copy is refreshed twice a year, in April and October, rather than queried from a live upstream API. Responses include the loaded release date through data_as_of, along with source, licence, and coverage information.
The main tools are:
fr_property_sales lists dispositions using an INSEE commune code or a commune-name prefix, with optional postcode, date, property-type, limit, and offset filters.
fr_property_sale retrieves one mutation by the id_mutation returned in a sales result and includes all parcels or lots in that transaction.
fr_property_stats reports median and average price per square metre by year and property type, plus the transaction count for a commune.
A commune name is case-insensitive but matched as a prefix, not by accent folding. A five-digit INSEE code is the reliable choice for an exact commune. Names matching multiple communes produce candidates for the statistics tool instead of a single figure.
Setup and configuration
The France Dvf MCP server can be added through the Pipeworx endpoint:
{
"mcpServers": {
"france-dvf": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/france-dvf/mcp"
}
}
}
The gateway requires no account for initial calls and supports MCP clients such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf. A full Pipeworx gateway endpoint is also available. Gateway connections expose shared Pipeworx meta-tools in addition to the France Dvf tools; the exact tool set is stated by the connection’s initialize response.
The package can also be launched locally with npx -y @pipeworx/mcp-france-dvf or configured as a stdio MCP server. The local process implements MCP initialization, tool listing, and tool calls for this pack. The README also notes that data access is bound to the Pipeworx runtime, so an unbound standalone installation does not provide records and returns a clear runtime error rather than an empty result.
Tools and capabilities
fr_property_sales returns every recorded disposition matching the request. It does not restrict results to single-lot residential sales, and each result includes single_lot_sale so callers can apply that condition themselves.
fr_property_stats applies stricter logic because valeur_fonciere is the total price for the transaction, which may cover several lots. Its price-per-square-metre figures use only transactions with one recorded residential lot, a positive built surface, and a Maison or Appartement type. This avoids dividing a combined transaction price by the surface of only one lot.
The tools can also be called over HTTP through Pipeworx’s tool endpoint. The gateway’s ask_pipeworx feature accepts a plain-language question and selects and fills the relevant tool.
Limitations and notes
The dataset is not continuously updated; its coverage follows the twice-yearly DVF bulk releases. Excluded areas use a separate land registry and are not present in this release. Users must not use the data to indirectly re-identify individuals or make it indexable by external search engines. The stated data licence is Licence Ouverte / Open Licence v2.0 (Etalab), and the package itself is licensed under MIT.
