What Arcgis Abbotsford does

Arcgis Abbotsford exposes City of Abbotsford GIS data through three MCP tools. search_datasets finds open datasets by keyword, including datasets related to parcels, zoning, public works, and city services. Results include the dataset name, summary, record count, owning organization, and a Feature Service URL.

query_layer reads records from an ArcGIS Feature Service or Map Service layer. It accepts a layer URL and supports SQL-like filtering through where, selected fields through out_fields, sorting with order_by, and pagination using limit and offset. Returned data includes attribute rows and geometry.

layer_info inspects a layer before querying it. The response includes field names and types, geometry type, total record count, and supported capabilities.

How it works

A typical workflow starts with search_datasets, followed by layer_info for the selected service URL. After identifying the schema and available fields, an agent can call query_layer with a filter and field list. To sample a layer, use where set to 1=1 and out_fields set to *.

The hosted MCP endpoint is available at https://gateway.pipeworx.io/arcgis-abbotsford/mcp. The gateway connection exposes this pack’s tools alongside shared Pipeworx meta-tools. The local package instead speaks MCP over stdin and stdout and exposes only the Arcgis Abbotsford tools.

The gateway also accepts direct HTTP tool calls. For example, the dataset search endpoint is https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/arcgis_abbotsford_search_datasets.

A pack-specific gateway connection includes shared Pipeworx meta-tools in addition to the three tools above. The local stdio deployment does not include those shared tools. The gateway and local package use the same Arcgis Abbotsford source tools, while ask_pipeworx can route questions across the broader Pipeworx catalog when using the gateway.

The service focuses on Abbotsford’s open geospatial datasets rather than general ArcGIS coverage.
