What WPMission MCP Server does
WPMission MCP Server MCP server gives MCP-compatible AI assistants access to information about WPMission, a platform for managing multiple WordPress websites from one dashboard. Its current scope is limited to product information: the available wpmission_info tool describes WPMission and its WordPress website management platform.
The server does not currently connect assistants to live WordPress management operations. Features such as website status monitoring, multi-site management, REST API access, and additional actions are listed as future plans rather than available functionality.
How it works
WPMission MCP Server MCP server uses the Model Context Protocol and standard input/output transport. An MCP client starts the process and communicates with it through the local stdio connection. The repository provides a Docker-based launch command using the published image ghcr.io/support-wpmission/wpmission-mcp-server:0.1.0.
The server is intended for MCP clients that support local stdio servers. A client configuration defines a server named wpmission, invokes the docker command, and passes arguments to run the container interactively. This keeps the server process local to the machine running the MCP client.
Setup and configuration
Docker is required for the container option. Run the versioned image with:
docker run --rm -i ghcr.io/support-wpmission/wpmission-mcp-server:0.1.0
Alternatively, run the project from source. Clone the repository, enter its directory, install the Node.js dependencies, and start the application:
git clone https://github.com/support-wpmission/wpmission-mcp-server.git
cd wpmission-mcp-server
npm install
npm start
For an MCP client, configure the server as a local stdio process. The documented Docker configuration uses --rm to remove the container after it exits and -i to keep standard input available. Exact configuration file locations depend on the client.
Tools and capabilities
The current release provides one MCP tool:
wpmission_info: returns information about WPMission and its WordPress website management platform.
WPMission MCP Server MCP server also supports container execution through the public GitHub Container Registry image. Version 0.1.0 is identified in the project documentation as the initial release and is published on the official MCP Registry.
Limitations and notes
The tool is informational only in the current release. It cannot manage WordPress websites, report live website status, operate across multiple sites, or invoke WPMission REST API actions because those connections are not yet available. The roadmap mentions these areas as planned improvements, so they should not be treated as capabilities of WPMission MCP Server MCP server version 0.1.0.
Technical questions, bug reports, and feature requests should be submitted through the project's GitHub issue tracker. No environment variables are documented as required for running the server.
