What Wanjige (万机阁) MCP server does
Wanjige (万机阁) MCP server provides a single MCP entry point to 15,552 tools that execute on the service side. The catalog includes Chinese and international weather, air quality, routes, points of interest, financial quotes, exchange rates, academic search, public datasets, document parsing, OCR, text-to-speech, image and video generation, and deterministic calculators.
The tools are grouped into areas such as location and travel, content and media, finance, commerce, research, calculations, text processing, developer utilities, documents, and AI generation. Examples include China A-share and Hong Kong stock data, 930 currency pairs, arXiv and World Bank searches, PDF and Word extraction, Excel processing, personal-income-tax calculations, mortgage calculations, and unit conversion.
How it works
The service does not expose all 15,552 tools to the model at once. The initial tool list contains 34 entries: three discovery or control tools and 31 frequently used tools. This progressive disclosure approach keeps the client context smaller while preserving access to the long tail.
Use qj_search_tools to find tools by Chinese keywords. Use qj_tool_detail to inspect a tool's parameters and example usage, then use qj_call to invoke a selected tool. Search is free, and tool results identify their data sources where applicable. The server instructions require current-data and precision-calculation requests to use tools rather than rely on model memory.
The service reports that tools run as real server-side calls rather than placeholders. Billing is usage-based: calls consume credits according to the tool category, while failed calls do not consume credits. A no-key trial is available for up to three real calls per day.
Setup and configuration
For clients that support Streamable HTTP, configure the remote endpoint with a URL such as https://qianjige.app.workbuddy.host/mcp?key=YOUR_KEY. An API key can also be supplied through _meta.api_key or the X-Api-Key header, although the query parameter is recommended because some hosted gateways remove custom headers.
Clients limited to stdio can run the wanjige-mcp npm bridge with Node.js 18 or newer. Set WANJIGE_API_KEY in the process environment and start it with npx -y wanjige-mcp. Leaving the environment value empty enables the trial mode. Keys begin with qj-sk- and can be obtained by registering through the service account page; new accounts receive 1,000 credits.
Tools and capabilities
Wanjige (万机阁) MCP server is suited to tasks such as:
- Checking weather, routes, locations, air quality, time zones, and POIs.
- Retrieving stock, fund, exchange-rate, and macroeconomic data.
- Searching academic publications, websites, package registries, and public trends.
- Extracting text from PDF and Word files, processing spreadsheets, and running OCR.
- Performing tax, mortgage, financial, date, unit, and base-conversion calculations.
- Generating speech, images, videos, and GIFs through the available AI tools.
The listed public data sources include Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap, OSRM, Photon, Sina Finance, Tiantian Fund, the European Central Bank, ExchangeRate-API, arXiv, Crossref, PubMed, OpenAlex, the World Bank, Stack Exchange, GitHub, and npm.
Limitations and notes
The repository contains public metadata and connection documentation, not the private server implementation, account system, or credit system. Usage requires credits after the trial, and prices vary by category. The service does not currently support invoicing according to the README. Data availability, upstream limits, and response times can vary by source, although failed calls are stated not to incur credits.
