What ViewMax MCP MCP server does

ViewMax MCP MCP server exposes ViewMax Studio’s hosted generation features through the Model Context Protocol. Agents can inspect available video and image models, including pricing, before submitting work. They can also discover music models and text-to-speech voices.

The generation tools cover video, images, music, speech, and prompt-based sound effects. Video and image requests create generation tasks. Music generation generally returns URLs directly, while other asynchronous work can be checked through task-status tools. Account credit information is available through a separate tool, which helps agents check usage before starting paid generation.

How it works

The service is accessed remotely at https://viewmax.studio/api/mcp. No local media runtime is described in the repository. An MCP client sends tool calls to the hosted endpoint, and ViewMax handles model selection and generation. For task-based operations, an agent can call get_task to inspect progress or use wait_for_task when it needs to wait for completion.

Generation consumes ViewMax credits. A practical workflow is to query model availability and pricing, check the account balance, submit a generation request, and then monitor the returned task. Music requests commonly provide result URLs without the same polling flow.

Setup and configuration

Claude Web and Desktop can add the endpoint as a custom connector and authenticate with ViewMax through OAuth. Claude Code uses the HTTP transport with a bearer token. Cursor uses an MCP configuration containing the endpoint URL and an Authorization header. Codex can read the bearer token from the VIEWMAX_API_KEY environment variable after that variable is set to a ViewMax API key.

API keys are created in ViewMax Settings under API Keys. The repository documents a hosted connection rather than a package installation or local server command. Clients not listed in the setup examples may still require their own HTTP MCP configuration and authentication support.

Music commonly returns URLs immediately, but task behavior can vary by generation operation and should be handled using the available status tools when necessary.
