What US Business Entity Check does
The US Business Entity Check MCP server verifies whether supplied company names match business registrations in five states: New York, Colorado, Oregon, Connecticut, and Texas. For each input, it reports a verdict such as active, inactive, status unclear, or not found, then provides any matching registrations.
Returned company records can include the legal name, registry ID, entity type, registration status, good-standing status, jurisdiction, formation date, and business address. The service is limited to organization records and does not return officers, agents, owners, or other personal data.
The US Business Entity Check MCP server is suited to vendor and supplier screening before payment, KYB onboarding, lead qualification, and checking whether a company named in an invoice, contract, or email appears to exist.
How it works
Send one or more company names to the MCP tool. Name matching accounts for common formatting differences, including variations such as “Inc” versus “Inc.” and “L.L.C.” versus “LLC.” Similar names are kept as separate matches so an agent can review the returned registrations rather than treating every close spelling as the same entity.
The service uses official state business-registry open data through an Apify-hosted remote MCP endpoint. A found company is billed at $0.004, while a lookup with no match costs $0.0005. Each run adds $0.0005, and failed lookups are not charged.
Setup and configuration
There is nothing to install or host locally. Create an Apify account, then add the tool-specific MCP URL to a client that supports remote MCP connections:
https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=plainfold/business-entity-check
Clients that support OAuth can authenticate to Apify in the browser. Otherwise, provide an Apify API token with the Authorization: Bearer YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN header. The endpoint uses streamable HTTP. The MCP tool name is plainfold--business-entity-check.
Tools and capabilities
The server exposes one business-entity lookup tool. Its input is a list of company names, for example:
{
"companies": [
"Arrow Electronics, Inc.",
"Kodak Alaris LLC"
]
}
The response contains a per-company verdict and matching registration details. Multiple names can be checked in one call, making the tool suitable for reviewing a vendor list or several entities mentioned in a document.
Limitations and notes
The US Business Entity Check MCP server does not cover states outside New York, Colorado, Oregon, Connecticut, and Texas. It is not a people-lookup service and does not provide credit information, financial data, or a legal certificate of good standing.
A returned registration or active status should be interpreted within the coverage and fields supplied by the relevant state open-data source. Similar-name results remain separate and may require human review to confirm the intended company. Usage is metered through Apify, including charges for successful matches, no-match lookups, and runs.
