What the Trvlrr MCP server does
The Trvlrr MCP server gives compatible AI assistants access to travel information stored in Trvlrr. It can answer questions about past and upcoming trips, including transport, accommodation, activities, expenses, destinations, travellers, documents, and photos. Read operations include listing trips, retrieving a complete trip, calculating lifetime travel statistics, searching photos, and opening stored files such as images or e-tickets.
The server also supports changes to a Trvlrr account. An assistant can import a complete itinerary, add or update transport, stays, activities, expenses, packing items, and places, modify trip details, merge trips, resolve flagged cancellations, and update profile information. Permanent deletion is available through a separate tool and requires confirmation from the user.
How it works
Trvlrr runs as a hosted remote MCP server using Streamable HTTP at https://trvlrr.app/mcp. The repository contains connection instructions and configuration examples; the Trvlrr service and server implementation are hosted separately. When an assistant first invokes a tool, the user signs in to Trvlrr in a browser and approves the connection.
Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE using the S256 method. The service supports public clients, dynamic client registration, rotating refresh tokens, and access tokens that last one hour. Users can revoke the connection from Trvlrr under Profile β Connected apps.
Setup and configuration
No local installation or API key is required for the hosted endpoint. Add the URL in an MCP client that supports remote HTTP servers. The documented connection paths include Claude's connector directory, Cursor's MCP settings, VS Code's MCP server command, Claude Code's HTTP transport command, Gemini CLI's extension installation, and Raycast's Model Context Protocol Registry extension.
For applications that only accept stdio servers, the repository documents using npx -y mcp-remote https://trvlrr.app/mcp as an adapter. Client-specific setup guides and screenshots are available at trvlrr.app/assistants.
Tools and capabilities
The Trvlrr MCP server exposes tools with read-only or destructive annotations and defined output schemas:
list_trips returns trips ordered from newest to oldest, with dates, status, locations, travellers, and photo counts.
get_trip retrieves detailed transport, stays, activities, and documents, with optional costs, packing information, and photos.
get_stats reports lifetime countries, cities, flights, distance, and days away for completed trips.
search_photos finds photos using natural-language descriptions and requires Trvlrr Plus.
get_file opens stored photos and trip documents.
import_trip imports a complete trip and its related records.
save_items, update_trip, and update_profile maintain travel and profile data.
delete_items permanently removes trips or items after confirmation.
On the free plan, importing trips and adding items through an assistant share a limit of three imports per month with forwarded booking emails. Trvlrr Plus removes that monthly limit and adds photo search and packing lists.
Limitations and notes
The Trvlrr MCP server does not book or pay for travel, check travellers in, or sign in to airline, hotel, or email accounts. Photo search is a Trvlrr Plus feature, and packing lists are also available on Plus. The connection provides access to the user's Trvlrr data after authorization; it does not provide external booking-system access.
