Overview

tossinvest-cli MCP server connects AI agents to Toss Securities through the official Open API and web-internal APIs. It exposes market research, account and portfolio data, dividends, taxes, watchlists, news, order history, and more than 30 CLI capabilities through the `tossctl mcp` command. Use it when an agent needs Korean brokerage data or structured investment workflows beyond the official API. Trading is disabled by default and real orders require human review and approval.

Use cases

  • Review portfolio value, positions, dividends, and realized profit or loss
  • Find securities using market signals, flows, filters, and sector analysis
  • Summarize news and economic events for held or watched securities
  • Export account and order data as JSON for scripts and automation
  • Preview a trade and require human approval before execution

Key features

  • MCP access through `tossctl mcp`
  • Toss Securities account and portfolio queries
  • Market signals, flows, analysis, news, and schedules
  • Dividend, tax, performance, and realized-gain data

How Tossinvest Cli works

What tossinvest-cli MCP server does

tossinvest-cli brings Toss Securities data and workflows into terminal scripts and MCP-compatible AI applications. Its command-line entry point is tossctl, while the MCP service is started with tossctl mcp. The service is intended for working with a Toss Securities account, market information, investment history, and related portfolio-management tasks.

The available scope extends beyond the official API. Examples include stock discovery and analysis, Toss AI signals, explanations for price movements, condition-based searches, sector analysis, news for held or watched securities, earnings calls, economic-calendar events, combined account assets, valuation history, dividends, realized profit and loss over time, overseas capital-gains information, deposit interest, and projected stock-lending income.

How it works

Authentication begins with tossctl auth login, using phone verification and an option to keep the device signed in. A link-based login is also available. When an official Open API key is configured, supported queries can use that API first; features that require web-only access use a Toss Securities web session instead.

AI clients connect through a standard MCP configuration that runs tossctl mcp as a local process. The same installation can also return JSON for scripts, compact selected fields, stream trade events, and maintain a locally synchronized history. After tossctl history sync, history listing, searching, and comparison can run offline.

Setup and configuration

Install on macOS or Linux with the project’s shell installer, or use the PowerShell installer on Windows. Homebrew and source-build paths are also available. After installation, authenticate before requesting account data:

bash
tossctl auth login
tossctl account summary --output json

To connect the official Open API, use:

bash
tossctl openapi login
tossctl openapi status

An MCP client can use this configuration:

config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tossinvest": { "command": "tossctl", "args": ["mcp"] }
  }
}

Claude Code can register it with claude mcp add tossctl tossctl mcp. Cursor and Codex are also named as supported clients.

Tools and capabilities

The CLI and MCP workflow covers several categories:

  • Query quotes, flows, investor activity, market signals, and stock-analysis information.
  • Review account summaries, total assets, positions, performance history, dividends, and realized gains or losses.
  • Retrieve news, earnings calls, economic schedules, and information related to held or watched securities.
  • Inspect completed and canceled orders, including older records with date and size options.
  • Manage or inspect watchlist folders, target-price alerts, hidden securities, and recurring stock-purchase information.
  • Preview orders, stream trade events, synchronize local history, and return JSON or selected compact fields.

Limitations and notes

This project is an unofficial Toss Securities client. Functions outside the official Open API rely on internal web APIs, which may change without notice and may conflict with Toss Securities terms. It supports Toss Securities rather than general Toss banking or card-spending data.

Real trading is off by default. Agents preview orders, and a person should verify the symbol, quantity, price, and confirmation details before execution. If an order’s result is uncertain, check its status before submitting another order. Watchlist and alert changes also require review. US options paper trading is experimental, hidden by default, and subject to separate Toss Securities eligibility; paper and live balances and orders remain separate.

The project is licensed under MIT. Users remain responsible for account restrictions, losses, and the consequences of using unofficial account access.
