Query TikTok trend history, growth, and live ranked feeds through MCP using one TrendsMCP API key.
Copy the AI prompt to install this server into Claude Code, Cursor, or another agent โ or use 1-click editor setup below.
๐ก Paste the JSON block into your client's configuration file under mcpServers, then restart the application.
Inspect callable tools, capabilities, and parameters exposed to AI agents by TikTok Trends MCP.
get_time_seriesWeekly (or daily) history for **one** `source` + `keyword`. Same name on MCP and REST (`mode: "get_time_series"`). REST also accepts `get_trends` as an alias.
get_growthPoint-to-point percent change. Several windows in one call still count as **one** request for that source + keyword.
get_top_trendsLive ranked list. **No keyword.** On MCP, `type` is required and must match the feed name **exactly** (including capitals). On REST, omit `type` only if you intend to pull every feed (billed per feed).
TikTok Trends MCP MCP server gives MCP-compatible agents access to trend data through three tools. get_time_series returns weekly or daily history for one keyword on one source. get_growth calculates point-to-point percentage change for selected time windows. get_top_trends returns a live ranked feed and does not accept a keyword.
The service is not limited to TikTok in the supplied configuration. The README describes support for Google, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit, and other sources, with source-specific keyword formats. For TikTok-focused work, the tools can retrieve hashtag history, calculate growth, and inspect live TikTok feeds where the requested feed type is available.
The hosted MCP endpoint is https://api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp. Calls use a TrendsMCP API key as a Bearer token. The same key is used for the REST endpoint at https://api.trendsmcp.ai/api, although REST supports some different parameter behavior. The repository also includes a stdio adapter that can run locally and forward paid calls with TRENDSMCP_API_KEY.
get_time_series requires both keyword and source, and handles one source per call. Its index uses a 0โ100 scale where the data pipeline supports one; a value of 100 represents the peak in the returned period. An absolute volume field is included when the source provides one.
get_growth also requires a keyword and source. It accepts one source or a comma-separated list, and multiple periods in one call count as one request for that source and keyword. Supported presets include 7D, 30D, 6M, 12M, 1Y, 2Y, and 5Y, alongside month-to-date, quarter-to-date, year-to-date, and custom date objects.
Create a free API key through the TrendsMCP account page before making data requests. For remote clients, configure the MCP URL and send Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY. Claude.ai uses the custom connector path with OAuth instead of a Bearer key. Claude Desktop does not use native HTTP in the documented setup; it connects through mcp-remote.
For local stdio usage, install the repository package and run python -m trends_mcp_server. Put the key in the TRENDSMCP_API_KEY environment variable in the client configuration. The stdio process can list tools without a key, but paid data calls still use the account quota.
Documented client configurations include Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, and Claude Desktop. Cline requires the transport value streamableHttp; Windsurf uses serverUrl rather than Cursor's url and transport fields.
The TikTok Trends MCP MCP server provides:
get_time_series for weekly or daily keyword history.get_growth for point-to-point percentage comparisons.get_top_trends for current ranked feeds, with optional pagination, category, and sorting controls. For get_top_trends, MCP calls require type, and its value must exactly match the feed name, including capitalization. The default limit is 25 and the maximum is 200. rank_change sorting supports windows from one to thirty days. REST can omit type to request every feed, but billing applies per feed.
Each historical or growth request targets one source unless get_growth receives a comma-separated source list. get_time_series accepts data_mode only through REST; MCP uses the tool's supported history behavior. Feed names and keyword formats depend on the source catalog, so callers should use the current parameter documentation when constructing requests. The README lists a free allowance of 100 requests per month.
