Install not yet sandbox-tested— the server itself is confirmed live (we called its tools/list endpoint). The stdio install command is a separate, ongoing check.

In stdio mode, file results use local paths; HTTP mode can return temporary download URLs. Stateless HTTP deployments return large message content inline when no file storage is available.

Setup and configuration

The project targets Python 3.10 or newer. Configure a Google OAuth application and connect the server to an MCP client using one of its supported transports. The deployment documentation covers local use, remote Streamable HTTP operation, reverse proxies, credential storage, and gateway authentication.

OAuth 2.1 is supported. When OAuth 2.1 is enabled, the legacy start_google_auth tool is disabled because authentication is handled by the newer flow.

  • Read or download Google-native files, Office documents, PDFs, images, and other files.
  • Create folders and files, copy files, and import DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV, and related formats into Google-native types.
  • Update metadata or file contents, including server-side append and prepend operations.
  • Inspect permissions, check public access, generate shareable links, and manage sharing or ownership.

Limitations and notes

Gmail sending is immediate and cannot be scheduled through this server. Use a draft for later delivery and rely on an external scheduler or Gmail's web interface to send it. Batch label operations accept message IDs rather than thread IDs. Temporary HTTP download URLs remain valid for one hour. File conversion and content extraction vary by format; scanned PDFs may produce a download hint instead of text.
