What SongUp AI MCP server does
SongUp AI MCP server exposes three read-only tools for working with the SongUp AI website. The service can search the SongUp AI library for ready-made AI songs, create a link that opens the song maker with a written idea already entered, and recommend browser audio tools for a stated task.
Song searches support 24 song languages plus instrumental results. Queries can narrow results by genre, mood, or occasion, and returned entries include descriptive metadata and a direct audio link. These are existing library examples; the server does not generate a song from the supplied search terms.
The custom-song function accepts an idea of up to 500 characters and can include a language. It returns a link for creating the song on songupai.com. The actual song creation requires a SongUp AI account and happens on the website.
How it works
Requests are sent to https://www.songupai.com/mcp/agents using the Streamable HTTP transport. The endpoint requires no authentication. The server receives the tool inputs submitted by the connected application, does not store them or associate them with a person, and does not set cookies.
Available tools are:
find_songs: searches by language, with optional genre, mood, occasion, query text, and a result limit from 1 to 10.
start_custom_song: turns an idea and optional language into a prefilled SongUp AI song-maker URL.
find_audio_tool: returns up to three browser tools matching an audio task, with descriptions and links.
The tools do not create songs directly, take payments, or modify data. SongUp AI MCP server is therefore suited to discovery and handoff workflows rather than audio generation or account management.
Setup and configuration
Because this is a hosted service, there is no local server package to install and no environment variable configuration. Add the endpoint to an MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP.
Cursor can use an MCP entry with the endpoint as its url. VS Code uses an HTTP server entry, while Claude Code can add the endpoint with the HTTP transport. Windsurf accepts the same endpoint through its serverUrl setting. Gemini CLI can install the repository extension or configure the endpoint as an httpUrl.
The service can also be connected through Claude’s custom connector, the SongUp AI ChatGPT app, Zapier’s MCP Client step, Make’s MCP Client module, or n8n’s MCP Client Tool. Those integrations use their own client configuration interfaces rather than local environment variables.
Tools and capabilities
Use find_songs when an agent needs examples such as upbeat Spanish reggaeton or Arabic AI songs. Set language to one supported language or Instrumental, add an optional descriptive query, and constrain the number of results with limit.
Use start_custom_song for a birthday song, a song involving named people, or another concept that should be opened in SongUp AI’s maker. The returned URL carries the idea into the website; it does not complete the song.
Use find_audio_tool when the user needs a web-based utility for tasks such as stem separation, vocal removal, mashups, noise removal, mastering, chords, or audio-to-MIDI. Results include links to the matching SongUp AI browser tools.
Limitations and notes
The server’s three tools are read-only. It cannot generate audio within the MCP call, play or edit a song, process uploaded files, accept payments, or change SongUp AI account data. Library results are pre-existing examples rather than songs created from the user’s wording.
Custom songs require a SongUp AI account and are made on songupai.com after following the generated link. The server itself has no sign-in or API-key requirement. Support is available through support@songupai.com or SongUp AI’s contact page.
