The setline MCP server exposes music festival information to AI agents through MCP tools. It covers festivals worldwide and returns structured information such as event dates, locations, venues, genres, descriptions, ticket availability, festival pages, and ticket links. The data is oriented toward upcoming events: festival searches return upcoming festivals by default, while other tools help inspect the events and artists found in those results.
The service can answer both broad discovery questions and specific lookup requests. An agent might search for festivals in a country during a date range, retrieve one event by name or identifier, or find where a particular artist is scheduled to play next. This makes the setline MCP server suitable for itinerary research, event discovery, and festival schedule questions.
The available tools are:
search_festivals: Finds festivals by name, country, genre, month, or date range. Results include dates, location, genres, and links to the festival and ticket pages.get_festival: Retrieves details for one festival using its name, Setline ID, or URL slug. The response can include dates, location, venue, genres, description, ticket availability, and links.get_lineup: Returns the acts playing at a festival, including headliner billing, genres, and artist origins.get_set_times: Shows the published schedule by day, stage, and set time. Results can be narrowed to an artist, date, or stage, and times are local to the festival.search_artists: Finds artists appearing at upcoming festivals and lists their upcoming festival appearances.get_artist: Looks up one artist and returns upcoming festival appearances with dates and locations.whats_on: Lists festivals in a time window. It defaults to this weekend or can work with a calendar month, with optional country and genre filters.Together, these tools cover event search, event detail retrieval, lineup inspection, schedule lookup, artist discovery, and time-window browsing. The setline MCP server can therefore support a conversation that starts with a broad search and narrows to a specific festival, performer, or set time.
Festival searches return upcoming events by default, so the default behavior is not a general historical festival archive. The whats_on tool uses a default window of this weekend, while a calendar month can be requested explicitly. Its results can also be filtered by country or genre.
Set schedules are limited to published information. When available, get_set_times reports the schedule in the festival’s local time zone and supports filtering by artist, date, or stage. The supplied material does not specify installation commands, authentication requirements, transport options, rate limits, or client-specific setup instructions, so those details should be confirmed from the service documentation before deployment.
