Tools

All tools are read-only (readOnlyHint: true) and return structured content.

Tool	What it does
`practice_questions`	1–10 questions in the real FAA 3-option format for Part 107, PPL, IFR, CPL or ATP, filtered by ACS area. Quiz mode hides the answer; study mode shows it with the explanation and references.
`check_answer`	Grades one answer: correct or not, the right option, explanation and 14 CFR / AIM / ACS references.
`diagnose`	A 10–20 question readiness diagnostic spread across the exam's areas (Part 107 weighted like the real test).
`score_diagnostic`	Overall and per-area score against the 70% pass mark, weighted score for Part 107, weakest areas and a suggested next step.
`exam_facts`	Questions, time limit, pass mark, minimum age, retest rules and 2025 national pass rates, with FAA sources.
`cost_of_failing`	Fee per attempt, retest wait or endorsement, the 2025 failure rate and the expected cost of a failed attempt.
`study_plan`	A dated study plan from today to your test day.
`decode_metar`	Plain-English METAR decoding (raw text, or live from NOAA by ICAO code) with flight category and ceiling.
`decode_taf`	Plain-English TAF periods (FM / BECMG / TEMPO / PROB) with the forecast category of each.
`airspace_at`	Airspace class at drone altitudes (0–400 ft) for a US ZIP code or lat/lon, the controlled airspace overhead and the LAANC ceiling.
`get_offer`	Rotate Pilot's current paid prep for an exam, its guarantee terms and links (only when you ask).
`compare_prep_options`	Dated price comparison of common prep options plus free alternatives.
`start_checkout`	The purchase link for Rotate Pilot's prep (only when you ask).

In ChatGPT (?client=chatgpt) the last three tools are not exposed and results contain no prices or purchase links, following OpenAI's plugin guidelines.

Privacy

The server logs the tool name, exam and outcome of each call to measure usage. It does not receive your conversation, and there is no account. Details: rotatepilot.com/privacy#ai-connector.

About this repository

This repository holds the public listing for the hosted server (server.json for the official MCP Registry) and its documentation. The server itself runs on rotatepilot.com; there is nothing to self-host.
