What rankdelta MCP server does
The rankdelta MCP server gives an AI agent access to Rankdelta’s SEO and AI-visibility workflows. The repository advertises 32 MCP tools covering live AI visibility checks, keyword research, SERP clustering, rank tracking, technical and GEO site audits, Site Explorer data, backlinks, reporting, and GEO-oriented content writing.
AI visibility checks query ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews according to the product’s supported workflows. Results can show which brands are mentioned, which competitors appear instead, and which sources are cited. Rankdelta also combines this information with Google rankings, Search Console, GA4, site health, and backlink data in reports for a site or client.
Reports can be scheduled, shared by link, emailed, exported to PDF or PowerPoint, and white-labeled. The interface and reports support English and Italian. The content writer uses live SERP research and marks missing source material with a visible source-needed note rather than inventing statistics or citations.
How it works
A hosted setup uses the MCP endpoint at https://mcp.rankdelta.ai/mcp and authenticates requests with a Rankdelta API key in the Authorization header. The same MCP workflow can be pointed at a self-hosted endpoint under a Supabase project, such as <your Supabase URL>/functions/v1/mcp.
Provider calls are made through the credentials configured for the selected edition. Hosted accounts use managed provider access and a server-side spending cap. Self-hosted installations use bring-your-own keys and pay the providers directly. OpenRouter is used for model-based AI visibility checks, while DataForSEO supports research, SERP, and related SEO data workflows.
AI answers are sampled measurements rather than fixed rankings. ChatGPT and Gemini are queried as models through OpenRouter without web search; cited sources and citation rates come from Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. DataForSEO search volume, difficulty, and traffic values are estimates.
Setup and configuration
For the hosted service, create an API key in Rankdelta under Settings → API & MCP, then add the MCP endpoint and bearer header to an MCP client. Claude Code can add the server with an HTTP transport command, while clients that accept an mcpServers configuration can use the JSON endpoint configuration.
A self-hosted deployment needs Docker, Node 20, pnpm, and the Supabase CLI. Start Supabase, configure the edge-function environment file, serve the functions, then start the web application. The documented provider secrets include OPENROUTER_API_KEY, DATAFORSEO_LOGIN, and DATAFORSEO_PASSWORD. Provider credentials belong in server-side edge-function secrets, not in VITE_ variables. Public deployments should disable sign-ups so unknown users cannot spend against the instance’s provider accounts.
Scheduled scans, scheduled report emails, and Search Console refreshes require additional scheduled-job configuration described by the project’s self-hosting guide.
Tools and capabilities
The rankdelta MCP server supports these documented capability areas:
- Run live AI-visibility checks and inspect share of voice, competing mentions, and cited sources.
- Research keywords and group results through SERP clustering.
- Track Google rankings and inspect site health, technical issues, and GEO issues.
- Explore sites and backlinks using Site Explorer workflows.
- Build reports for owned sites or clients, including scheduled delivery and PDF or PowerPoint export.
- Draft GEO content from live SERP research with fact-checking and visible source-needed markers.
Self-hosting makes the repository’s listed features available without a Rankdelta fee, but provider usage remains billable. The README gives approximate hosted measurements of $0.004 for one AI-visibility prompt on one engine, $0.03 for a research lookup, $0.002 for a Google rank check, and $0.09 for a full article; actual costs depend on usage.
