What pm-claude-skills does

pm-claude-skills makes a collection of professional Agent Skills available to AI assistants. Each skill is a Markdown file focused on one task and includes the working approach, an expected output structure, quality checks, and anti-pattern guidance. Product-management examples include PRD creation, user-interview synthesis, stakeholder updates, risk registers, and decision-oriented deliverables.

The collection also covers work beyond product management, including job-search support, lease analysis, postmortems, engineering tasks, student work, founder workflows, and multilingual use cases. The same skill library can be installed into supported AI tools or accessed on demand through MCP.

How it works

An MCP client sends a request to the server, which makes relevant skills available when needed rather than requiring the entire collection to be loaded into the assistant’s configuration. Skills can be searched and fetched through MCP and are exposed as tools, prompts, and resources.

A fetched skill supplies the assistant with task-specific instructions. For example, discovery notes can be combined with skills for interview synthesis, PRD structure, and stakeholder communication to produce several related documents in one request.

The package also includes a separate read-only REST API for automation platforms such as n8n, Make, and other HTTP-based tools. That API is distinct from the MCP interface.

Setup and configuration

For installation into a supported AI tool, run:

npx pm-claude-skills add

To use the MCP server directly with Claude Code, the documented command is:

claude mcp add pm-skills -- npx -y -p pm-claude-skills pm-claude-skills-mcp

The package can also be installed from a Mainland China npm mirror:

npx --registry=https://registry.npmmirror.com pm-claude-skills add

The installer copies selected Markdown skill files into the target tool’s configuration area. Removing the installation deletes those files. No account or resident runtime is required for the file-based installation path.

Limitations and notes

The MCP interface provides skill content and instructions; the resulting documents depend on the request and context supplied by the client. The package is not presented as a connection to a project tracker, CRM, document store, or other business system. ChatGPT and Gemini users are directed to copy material from the repository’s exports rather than use the MCP command directly.

The project is MIT-licensed. Its skill files are plain Markdown, so installing them does not add a background service to the selected AI tool.
