Overview

Paraguay Dncp MCP server exposes Paraguay’s official DNCP Open Contracting (OCDS) procurement data through two MCP tools. Search tender processes by date range, then retrieve a complete record using its numeric process ID or OCID. It runs either as a hosted gateway endpoint or as a local stdio package, with no API key required. Use it to inspect public tenders, buyers, contract values, awards, and procurement details.

Use cases

  • Search recent Paraguayan government tenders
  • Inspect a procurement record by process ID
  • Review awarded suppliers and amounts
  • Filter procurement results by date and text
  • Retrieve contract values in PYG

Key features

  • Searches DNCP OCDS procurement processes
  • Retrieves full tender records
  • Accepts numeric IDs and OCIDs
  • Returns buyers, dates, values, items, and awards
  • Supports hosted MCP and local stdio deployment
  • Requires no API key

How Paraguay Dncp works

What Paraguay Dncp MCP server does

The Paraguay Dncp MCP server gives MCP-compatible agents access to Paraguay government procurement and public-contract records from the official Dirección Nacional de Contrataciones Públicas (DNCP) Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) API. It provides two pack-specific tools:

  • paraguay_search_tenders returns a paginated list of procurement processes.
  • paraguay_get_record returns the compiled procurement record for one process.

Search results include identifiers such as the process ID and OCID, along with the title, buyer or convocante, procurement method, and dates. Full records add status, contract value and currency, tender items, key dates, and awards with suppliers and award amounts. Monetary values use PYG, and returned field values are in Spanish while object keys are in English.

How it works

The Paraguay Dncp MCP server can be connected through the hosted Pipeworx MCP endpoint or run locally as an npm package over standard input and output. The hosted pack endpoint is https://gateway.pipeworx.io/paraguay-dncp/mcp; the full gateway is available separately at https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp. The pack endpoint also exposes shared Pipeworx meta-tools, while the standalone package exposes only the two Paraguay procurement tools.

Search requests require a date range at the source API. If date_from and date_to are omitted, the search defaults to approximately the previous 30 days. The API does not provide a free-text search parameter. Instead, the query value is applied as a case-insensitive filter over the current page of results, so it should not be treated as a complete database-wide text search.

To inspect a process in detail, pass either its numeric ID, such as 291566, or its OCID, such as ocds-03ad3f-291566-1, to paraguay_get_record.

Setup and configuration

For a hosted MCP connection, add the endpoint to an MCP client configuration:

config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "paraguay-dncp": {
      "url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/paraguay-dncp/mcp"
    }
  }
}

The standalone option uses the published npm package and does not require a Pipeworx account:

config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "paraguay-dncp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@pipeworx/mcp-paraguay-dncp"]
    }
  }
}

The package can also be started directly with npx -y @pipeworx/mcp-paraguay-dncp. No environment variables or API credentials are specified as required.

Tools and capabilities

paraguay_search_tenders supports date-scoped procurement searches and returns paginated process summaries. Its output can be used to identify a process before requesting more detail.

paraguay_get_record retrieves the compiled OCDS release for a selected process. The response can include the buyer, title, status, procurement method, contract value and currency, important dates, items, and awarded suppliers.

The Paraguay Dncp MCP server is suitable for agents that need to answer questions about Paraguay procurement activity, examine individual public contracts, or compare process metadata. It is less suitable when the task depends on unrestricted full-text search across every historical record.

Limitations and notes

The search API requires a date range, and its default period is only roughly the last 30 days. Query filtering occurs on the current result page, which can limit matches when relevant processes are outside that page. Detailed values, statuses, items, and awards are provided by the full-record tool rather than the search summary.

The gateway pack endpoint lists shared Pipeworx meta-tools in addition to the pack tools. Its exact tool scope can change and is reported by the MCP initialize response. The standalone connection does not include those gateway-wide tools or cross-catalog routing. The project is licensed under MIT.

Frequently Asked Questions about Paraguay Dncp

Paraguay Dncp is an MCP server that connects AI clients to Paraguay’s official DNCP Open Contracting (OCDS) API. Its main tools search government procurement processes by date and retrieve full records by process ID or OCID, including buyers, values, statuses, items, dates, and awarded suppliers.

Install it locally by configuring your MCP client to run `npx -y @pipeworx/mcp-paraguay-dncp`. This starts the standalone stdio server and does not require a Pipeworx account. You can instead configure the hosted MCP URL at `https://gateway.pipeworx.io/paraguay-dncp/mcp`.

Call `paraguay_search_tenders` with a date range and optionally `query`. The API requires dates, and omitted dates default to approximately the last 30 days. Text filtering is case-insensitive but applies only to the current results page.

Call `paraguay_get_record` with the numeric process ID or its OCID. The response contains the compiled OCDS release, including procurement status, buyer, contract value in PYG, dates, items, and award information.

Yes, Cursor is named as a supported MCP client in the setup instructions. Configure either the hosted endpoint or the local `npx` stdio command in Cursor’s MCP settings.
