NyayAssist MCP server brings selected NyayAssist account functions into MCP-compatible applications. It is intended for advocates practising Indian law and covers legal research, document work, drafting, matter management, translation, due diligence, workflows, and meetings.
The Legal Library tools search reported Indian judgments and central or state Acts, then retrieve judgment details, summaries, or Act sections. Research tools accept a legal question and can ground the result in a matter. Drafting tools create documents from instructions and optional matter facts, while later revisions are stored as new versions.
Matter tools list cases and documents, read documents, create matters, and add or upload files. Other capabilities include translation into English or one of nine Indian languages, OCR and related document processing, due-diligence projects and reports, workflow runs, and meeting capture or recording processing.
The hosted endpoint is https://mcp.nyayassist.ai/mcp. It uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. When the first tool call needs authentication, the client opens NyayAssist sign-in. Users authenticate with the same account used on nyayassist.ai; no API key is created or copied into the client.
The client receives a token for the MCP server, while the server handles access to the NyayAssist account. Results are limited to the authenticated account’s matters, documents, drafts, research, projects, workflows, and meetings, along with the shared Legal Library. Account-specific opaque handles identify resources and cannot be reused across accounts.
Long-running operations return jobs. The assistant can check progress with job-status tools and retrieve completed output separately. Reading and listing existing material do not consume plan allowances, while operations such as research, drafting, translation, uploads, due diligence, workflows, and meetings use the allowances of the NyayAssist web app.
No local installation or hosting is required for the remote server. Add the endpoint to an MCP client that supports remote servers and OAuth. Claude uses a custom connector, ChatGPT uses a developer-mode connector, Cursor can use its installation link or an MCP configuration entry, and VS Code can register the HTTP endpoint with code --add-mcp. Gemini CLI provides an extension installation command for this repository.
The first connection requires sign-in. Enterprise customers receive organisation-specific setup instructions from their NyayAssist account team. There are no server environment variables or backend credentials to configure.
The server exposes 44 tools across these areas:
Bundled skills for Claude, Cursor, and Gemini CLI cover Indian legal research, case review, and drafting workflows.
NyayAssist MCP server does not delete, share, or send account content, and it does not change billing or settings. The start_meeting tool is an exception in scope: it can send a NyayAssist notetaker to a supplied Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call. Tools unavailable under a user’s plan remain visible but return an explanatory response when called.
Outputs are research and drafting assistance, not legal advice or finished filings. Citations, section numbers, dates, and other details should be checked against the source before use. Text returned from judgments, Acts, and uploaded documents is marked as untrusted document content so instructions inside those materials are not treated as commands.
The connector is available across NyayAssist plans, but creation and processing features consume the same allowances as the web application. Enterprise account setup may differ from the public endpoint instructions.
