Team operations are organized around a school year, sport slug, and numeric team ID. mpaz_list_teams returns the teams available for a year, while mpaz_resolve_team converts a loose description such as “varsity football” into the ID needed by other team-scoped tools.

How it works

The myersparkathleticzone-mcp MCP server retrieves pages from the Athletic Zone platform and extracts entities from the React Server Components flight payload. The upstream site is a server-rendered Next.js application; its internal /api/* routes reject external requests, so the server reads the page responses instead. A healthcheck can confirm that the site is reachable and that its content remains parseable.

The all-school schedule is intended for upcoming events across teams. For a complete season belonging to one team, use mpaz_get_team_schedule. mpaz_get_scores reports results from the Myers Park perspective when both sides have scores, including win, loss, or tie information.

Setup and configuration

Run the server with:

An MCP host can start it with the npx command and the -y argument for the package. The myersparkathleticzone-mcp MCP server has no mandatory environment variables. MPAZ_SITE_URL optionally changes the Athletic Zone site, and MPAZ_SCHOOL_ID optionally identifies the school for distinguishing its teams from opponents. Their defaults target Myers Park and school ID 10150.

Both settings can be used together with another school on the same Athletic Zone platform. The repository reports verification against Ballantyne Ridge as an example of that configuration.

Limitations and notes

Team IDs vary by school year, so resolve them instead of reusing an old value. A stale ID can produce a “Team Not Found” page even with an HTTP 200 response, which the server detects.

Missing scores remain unknown rather than becoming zero. The source may record one side of a score without the other, and Myers Park has historically published few completed-game scores. An apparently empty result set can therefore reflect upstream data entry.

Past-season discovery is incomplete and depends on the calendar. Per-team pages may contain older seasons even when the school-wide schedule does not. Off-season sports may be inaccessible for past years, and the response includes coverage information describing what was searched.

Empty rosters are normal because many teams publish coaches but not players. Broadcast results point to NFHS Network pages rather than hosted video files, and their duration is always zero.
