What mcp-public-award-monitor does

The mcp-public-award-monitor MCP server provides a narrow interface to Mamba Labs' Government Contract Award Monitor actor on Apify. It checks public-award records that have already been issued and groups the result by winning company rather than returning one row for every individual award.

The supported registers are US federal contracts and grants from USASpending, US NIH SBIR awards from NIH RePORTER, and UK awards from Contracts Finder or Find a Tender. Each returned company can include its award count for the selected period, total and largest award values, awarding body, award date, a source URL for the latest award, and a resolved company domain. US recipients are identified by UEI; UK recipients use a Companies House number.

This is not a tender feed. It does not identify work that is open for bidding, and it does not provide a broader procurement pipeline.

How it works

The mcp-public-award-monitor MCP server passes the tool inputs to the Apify actor and returns the actor's output. The main tool is monitor_public_awards.

Its required register input selects the source. window_days controls how far back from the current date the actor searches, from 1 through 90 days. min_award_value filters out smaller awards using the register's native currency. Results can be limited with max_entities, which accepts 1 to 1,000 rows and also serves as a hard cap on billed winning companies. Winners are ordered by total award value.

exclude_government_recipients removes government bodies, universities, and public authorities. This is especially relevant to grant registers, where those entities may otherwise appear alongside companies. Domain lookup is enabled by default through resolve_domains; disabling it is faster but returns no domain. domain_confidence_floor controls whether domain matching is strict, standard, or loose.

US register data can lag by about two days, so a one-day window is unsuitable for those sources.

Setup and configuration

Install the package with:

npx -y @mambalabsdev/mcp-public-award-monitor

The server requires an APIFY_TOKEN, obtained from the Apify account integrations page. A Claude Desktop configuration uses npx as the command, passes -y and the package name as arguments, and supplies the token in the server's environment. Other MCP clients must provide equivalent stdio configuration.

Running the tool consumes Apify credits. Billing is based on each winning company returned, plus a small actor start fee, so set max_entities when you need a cost ceiling. Pricing is published on the actor's Apify page.
