What Magpie Capital MCP server does

The Magpie Capital MCP server gives an MCP-capable model read-only access to information from Magpie Capital, a Solana lending protocol. It is intended for research, lending analysis, and quote generation rather than transaction execution. The server does not hold wallet keys and does not sign transactions.

Its data includes current protocol activity, available collateral, per-token borrowing terms, live quotes, loan history for a wallet, borrower rankings, and lending risk information. The collateral catalog covers more than 160 tokens, including memecoins, tokenized stocks and ETFs, gold, and silver.

How it works

The server runs as an MCP process and exposes named tools that an MCP client can call from a conversation or agent workflow. Live values are resolved when the relevant tool is used, including production borrow quotes for a token, amount, and borrower tier. Prices for quotes are resolved automatically.

The server separates information access from transaction execution. It can explain how agents borrow through x402 payment-gated endpoints, but it does not perform borrowing, repayment, or exit-management actions itself. Those actions belong to Magpie’s separate x402 endpoint workflow and the larger execution package referenced by the project.

No environment variables or private keys are specified for the read-only server. The documented setup uses npx to launch the repository package. Additional reference material is available through Magpie’s LLM documentation files and its live statistics API.

Limitations and notes

The Magpie Capital MCP server is read-only by design. It cannot borrow funds, arm exits, repay loans, or sign Solana transactions. Agents that need those operations must use the separate execution tooling and Magpie x402 endpoints described in the project documentation.

Live protocol information and quotes may change as on-chain activity, prices, and lending conditions change. The safety brief should be consulted before an agent advises on borrowing. The repository states that it is licensed under MIT.
