What Lovie Company Formation does

The Lovie Company Formation MCP server gives supported AI clients access to Lovie’s company and financial-management operations. It is intended for users with a Lovie account who want to work with these operations through an AI coding tool rather than a separate application interface.

The package exposes 79 Lovie business tools across several areas:

• Company formation, including starting a formation, selecting a state and entity type, checking name availability, adding shareholders, generating a certificate, and paying the filing fee.
• Bank accounts, including checking, savings, and wallet accounts, with balance checks and freeze, unfreeze, and close actions.
• Cards, including virtual and physical card issuance, spending limits, freezing, unfreezing, and cancellation.
• Payments, such as transfers between accounts, deposits, and wallet withdrawals.
• Invoicing and client records, including invoice creation, sending, duplication, payment status, PDF generation, and client management.
• Transactions, linked external accounts, and user-profile operations.

How it works

Lovie Company Formation MCP server runs as a lightweight local bridge. The AI client communicates with the installed package over MCP stdio, while the package communicates with the remote Lovie MCP endpoint over HTTPS.

At startup, the bridge discovers the tools available from the remote server. When the AI client invokes one, the package forwards the request and returns the result through stdio. Authentication, session handling, and automatic OAuth token renewal are handled by the package. The business logic remains on Lovie’s server.

The standard endpoint is https://mcp.lovie.co/mcp/mcp. LOVIE_MCP_URL can select a different MCP endpoint, and LOVIE_API_KEY can provide a bearer token instead of the stored OAuth token. DEBUG enables verbose logging to stderr.

Setup and configuration

Node.js 18 or newer and a Lovie account are required. Install the package globally with:

npm install -g lovie

Authenticate with:

lovie login

The login command opens a browser for Lovie account authentication. Other available commands are lovie logout to clear credentials, lovie status to check authentication, and lovie help to display help.

Configure an MCP client to run npx -y lovie, or use lovie when the package is installed globally. The README provides configurations for Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Desktop, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Replit, Lovable, Manus, and OpenAI ChatGPT or Codex. The package uses the MCP stdio protocol and can also be configured in other MCP-compatible platforms that support stdio.

Tools and capabilities

The Lovie Company Formation MCP server covers the company lifecycle and related business administration in one MCP connection. Company-formation tools handle formation inputs and filing steps. Financial tools support account balances, cards, transfers, deposits, withdrawals, invoices, transaction filtering, and external-bank synchronization through Plaid. Profile tools expose profile updates, session management, and activity history.

Limitations and notes

The package is a proxy rather than the system that implements the business operations. It requires access to the Lovie service and a Lovie account. Its default transport is local MCP stdio to HTTPS; the README does not describe a standalone local mode or local business-data storage. The available tools are discovered from the remote server at startup, so the remote service determines the tool set exposed to the client.
