What Ledgy MCP server does

The Ledgy MCP server provides an MCP interface to Manilo, a multi-currency expense tracker formerly called Ledgy. It lets compatible AI assistants work with financial records through natural-language requests, including logging purchases, finding spending totals, importing statement data, moving money between accounts, and setting budgets.

Its coverage extends beyond ordinary transactions. The available operations include account balances and reconciliation, categories and category groups, shared ledgers, tags, recurring transactions, receipts, user settings, supported icons, and currency conversion using live European Central Bank exchange rates. Shared-group membership controls visibility: members can see the same transactions, while ownership remains personal.

How it works

The Ledgy MCP server is hosted by Manilo and exposes the primary endpoint at https://api.manilo.app/mcp. It uses stateless HTTP SSE transport. Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 with mandatory PKCE using the S256 method, and clients register dynamically through RFC 7591, so a client ID does not need to be entered manually.

When authorization is required, the service supports sign-in with Apple, Google, or email. OAuth discovery follows RFC 8414 and RFC 9728. The older endpoint at https://api.ledgy.app/mcp remains available for existing connections, but new connections should use the Manilo URL.

Setup and configuration

No package installation or local process is required. Add https://api.manilo.app/mcp as a custom MCP server or connector in a compatible client, then complete the OAuth sign-in flow. Claude users can add it through Connectors in Claude.ai or Claude Desktop. Cursor, Windsurf, and other clients can configure the endpoint as a remote MCP server using a URL-only entry.

Access requires a Manilo Cloud subscription, with a seven-day free trial stated in the documentation. The service handles dynamic client registration during the first connection. No server environment variables are documented for client setup.

Tools and capabilities

The Ledgy MCP server exposes 35 tools across these areas:

• Transactions: retrieve, create or update, delete, and aggregate transactions.
• Accounts: list accounts, inspect balances, adjust balances, reconcile accounts, and transfer funds.
• Categories and budgets: manage categories, category groups, and budgets.

These capabilities support requests such as recording a dated purchase, calculating monthly grocery spending, importing a bank statement from a PDF, CSV, or screenshot, transferring EUR between accounts, and creating a monthly eating-out budget.

Limitations and notes

The Ledgy MCP server is a hosted service rather than a repository intended for self-hosting. Financial data is stored on Google Cloud in the United States using Firestore and Cloud Storage. Users should review Manilo's privacy policy and terms before connecting production financial data.

The service is available to clients that support its remote HTTP SSE and OAuth flow.
