What Just Domain does

The Just Domain MCP server lets an MCP-compatible assistant inspect domain names and transfer conditions without creating an order or changing account settings. It connects chat-based workflows to public registry information and Just Domain’s pricing data.

The search_domains tool accepts one or more names and reports whether each is available, the registration price, the renewal price, and a Just Domain registration URL when the name can be registered. Prices cover the complete registration term for the extension, rather than a one-year equivalent. Most extensions use a one-year term; .ai uses two years because its registry requires it.

The check_domain_transfer tool examines one domain that is currently held at another registrar. It reports transfer blockers, the current sponsoring registrar, whether DNS is expected to continue working during the move, and the full-term transfer price.

How it works

The Just Domain MCP server is hosted remotely at https://mcp.justdomain.ai/ and uses Streamable HTTP. Authentication is not required. Both tools are read-only: they do not purchase a domain, collect payment, create an order, unlock a domain, or return an authorization code.

Transfer checks use the domain’s public RDAP record together with Just Domain’s price list. An empty blockers result is the indication that the precheck found no reported obstacle; it does not itself complete the transfer.

The repository also includes a Just Domain Agent Skill package that describes when agents should use these tools and where their workflow must stop. The skill still requires an active MCP connection.

Setup and configuration

Add the remote endpoint to an MCP client using a Streamable HTTP server entry:

No environment variables, API key, or local process are needed for the hosted service. The transfer precheck is also available without MCP through GET https://mcp.justdomain.ai/api/transfer/precheck?domain=example.com.

Limitations and notes

Just Domain does not complete registrations or transfers in chat. A person must open the returned link and finish registration in a browser on justdomain.ai. Incoming transfers are not self-service yet; an eligible move must be arranged with support at support@just-done.ai.

The Just Domain MCP server does not expose, accept, or generate EPP authorization codes. Moving a domain out requires the owner to sign in to justdomain.ai, disable the transfer lock, and obtain the code in their account. Premium domains may be reported, but they cannot currently be registered or transferred through Just Domain.

The repository contains public metadata, the MCP listing, the Agent Skill package, and related files; the hosted server’s implementation source is not included. The project is licensed under MIT.
