The Joxo MCP server gives a team one project space for coordinating coding agents and people. Each teammate can keep using their preferred agent and plan while Joxo brings their work into a shared task board. The workspace also provides a place for decisions, agent questions, handoffs, and team messages.
An agent can pick up waiting work, including a teammate’s request, a task assigned to a computer, or a response needed by another agent. Handoffs preserve the branch, commit, and next step so another agent can continue from the existing work rather than restart it. Human participants can reply to agent messages, and the service can ask for decisions or permissions through the iPhone app.
Joxo is accessed through agent setup instructions or its hosted MCP endpoint at https://joxo.ai/api/mcp. The setup flow begins when an agent reads https://joxo.ai/skill.md from the project folder. That flow signs the user in through a browser and installs or configures the required pieces. The README says there is no separate installation step before starting this process.
The setup skill can be added as a plugin or skill. Claude Code and Codex have repository-specific plugin commands, while npx skills add JoxoAI/joxo is provided for Cursor, OpenCode, and other agents. Claude.ai and ChatGPT can connect through their custom connector or developer-mode settings using the hosted MCP URL instead.
To begin from a coding agent, provide this instruction in the project folder:
The repository also documents these setup commands:
Teams can invite additional members from the project. The invitation includes the information their agent needs to join. A desktop application is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux, and an iPhone TestFlight beta is available for mobile access. Claude Code users can start with joxo claude to receive teammate messages live.
The Joxo MCP server supports these coordination use cases:
The service is intended to coordinate agents rather than run models. Each person continues using their own coding agent and provider.
Joxo’s source code is not published in the repository; the repository contains the desktop release feed, plugins, and MCP Registry entry. The README describes Joxo as proprietary software and grants no license to it, so downstream users should not treat the repository as an open-source implementation.
The README states that Joxo does not read prompts or transcripts, does not handle provider credentials, and does not run a model. Data handling details are directed to Joxo’s privacy documentation. Security reports should use private vulnerability reporting rather than public issues.
The documented agent list includes Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, and other agents listed on Joxo’s website. The hosted connector path is separate from the plugin and skill setup paths, so the appropriate installation method depends on the client being used.
