The jjlabsio/korea-stock-mcp MCP server exposes Korean company and stock-market data through the Model Context Protocol. It connects to two official sources: OPEN DART, the electronic disclosure system, and KRX, the Korea Exchange API. This makes it suitable for workflows that combine corporate filings with market data.

DART-backed capabilities include searching disclosures by company, disclosure type, and date; finding a company’s DART corporate code; retrieving parsed disclosure-report content; and reading XBRL financial-statement data. The financial-statement tool covers account data in periodic reports for listed companies and major unlisted companies.

KRX-backed capabilities cover basic listing information and daily trading information for KOSPI, KOSDAQ, and KONEX securities. Results can include stock identifiers, market classification, prices, trading volume, and market capitalization. A separate market-type lookup can identify whether a stock belongs to KOSPI, KOSDAQ, or KONEX. The server also provides the current date in YYYYMMDD format.

How it works

The agent calls MCP tools instead of handling the DART or KRX request formats directly. A typical company research flow can start by resolving a company name or stock code with get_corp_code, then searching relevant filings with get_disclosure_list, and finally requesting a report with get_disclosure.

Large disclosure reports receive special handling. Documents smaller than 1 MB are returned in full. For documents at or above that size, the tool first returns a table of contents. The agent can then request a relevant section using section_id, reducing the amount of report content returned in one response. Breaking complex questions into company lookup, disclosure search, report retrieval, and targeted section requests is supported by this workflow.

Setup and configuration

Using the jjlabsio/korea-stock-mcp MCP server requires one API key from OPEN DART and one from KRX. KRX access also requires applying for the applicable stock services; the README lists six daily-trading and basic-information services across KOSPI, KOSDAQ, and KONEX, with approval reported as taking approximately one day.

For Claude Desktop, configure the server with the korea-stock-mcp@latest npm package and provide these environment variables:

• DART_API_KEY: the OPEN DART authentication key.
• KRX_API_KEY: the KRX API authentication key.

The repository also documents local development with Node.js 18 or later. Install dependencies with npm install, create a root .env file containing both keys, and use npm run inspect to test the source through MCP Inspector.

The jjlabsio/korea-stock-mcp MCP server depends on external DART and KRX API access, so users must obtain and configure both credentials. Large reports are not always returned as complete documents; section-level retrieval may be needed after the table of contents is returned. The project describes its output as information for analysis, not investment advice, and places investment decisions with the user.
