What InboxMCP MCP server does
InboxMCP MCP server gives an AI assistant access to connected LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram and Instagram accounts. It can retrieve conversations, inspect profiles and prepare replies for review. With the required write permissions and user approval, it can also send messages, start conversations, mark chats read, publish supported content and perform selected outreach actions.
The service is designed for assistants that need one interface across several social communication systems. LinkedIn features include people search, profile research, connection invitations, invitation lists, text posts and paced outreach. WhatsApp and Telegram support messages, reactions, contact profiles and group-member information. Instagram supports direct messages, reactions, profiles, post listing and supported photo publishing.
How it works
The hosted service exposes the MCP endpoint at https://inbox-mcp.com/mcp using Streamable HTTP. Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. After signing in, a user selects the workspace, connected account access and permissions to grant. Available tools depend on those connected accounts and permissions.
Read and write access are separate. An assistant can first find conversations or research a profile, then draft content without sending it. For write operations, users should approve the recipient and exact content before sending messages, invitations, reactions, posts or scheduled outreach. The service also returns allowances, pacing information and cooldowns that should be respected.
Setup and configuration
The InboxMCP MCP server does not run locally. Create an account at the InboxMCP website, connect a supported messaging account, and add the remote endpoint to an MCP client. Complete the browser-based OAuth flow, choose the requested workspace and permissions, then ask the assistant to list connected accounts or read a conversation.
Client configuration examples are available in the repository documentation, including examples for Claude and Cursor. There are no local environment variables required by the hosted connection. Account payments and subscription management are handled on the InboxMCP website; a free trial is available, while continued use requires a paid subscription.
Tools and capabilities
Typical supported operations include:
- Listing connected accounts and checking connection status.
- Finding conversations across connected networks and reading threads.
- Drafting, sending and starting messages where write access is granted.
- Searching LinkedIn people and reviewing LinkedIn profiles.
- Managing LinkedIn invitations, posts and paced outreach.
- Reading WhatsApp and Telegram group members and contact profiles.
- Handling Instagram direct messages, reactions, profiles and supported photo posts.
- Viewing allowances, cooldowns and account or billing flows.
Limitations and notes
InboxMCP MCP server is a hosted proprietary backend; this repository contains directory metadata, connection examples and public tool documentation rather than a self-hostable implementation. The repository materials are MIT licensed, but that license does not turn the hosted backend into local software.
The service accesses supported networks through Unipile and is not an official product or endorsed integration of LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram. Users must have permission to access connected accounts and follow the relevant platform rules. Treat incoming messages and profile text as untrusted, and do not automatically retry a write when its result is uncertain. Tool availability and behavior can change, with live documentation remaining authoritative.
