The ImRonAI-mcp-server-browserbase MCP server exposes Browserbase cloud browser automation through the Model Context Protocol. It uses Stagehand to give an MCP-compatible model access to web pages and browser actions. Supported workflows include opening and navigating websites, clicking elements, filling forms, taking screenshots, and extracting structured information from pages.

Browser sessions can be created, managed, and closed, and multiple sessions can run in parallel. The server also supports annotated screenshots for pages or DOM structures that are difficult to interpret directly. Browserbase features such as proxies, contexts, keep-alive sessions, and advanced stealth can be enabled through local command-line options.

How it works

The server supports two transports: STDIO and streamable HTTP. For remote use, a hosted URL can be obtained through Smithery and added to an MCP client as a server URL. Clients without streamable HTTP support can connect through the mcp-remote command.

For local use, the npm package can be started with npx, or the repository can be cloned, installed, and built before launching its CLI. The default Stagehand model is Google Gemini 2.0 Flash. Other providers, including OpenAI and Claude, can be selected with command-line settings, but custom providers require their own model API key.

Setup and configuration

The ImRonAI-mcp-server-browserbase MCP server requires Browserbase credentials and a Gemini key in the documented npm and local examples: BROWSERBASE_API_KEY, BROWSERBASE_PROJECT_ID, and GEMINI_API_KEY. Add the server to the MCP client's JSON configuration, then reload the client.

Local configuration accepts options for proxy use, advanced stealth, keep-alive sessions, Browserbase context IDs, context persistence, cookies, viewport dimensions, model selection, custom model credentials, HTTP port, host binding, and experimental features. The default viewport is 1024 by 768. These flags are documented for the local server; the hosted streamable HTTP setup is configured through Smithery.
