What Free Agent Tools does
Free Agent Tools MCP server groups small, read-only utilities for business analysis, platform-policy preparation, online attention research, AI infrastructure education, and Japan travel planning. The business tools assess pitch quality, idea economics, pricing, customer cash flow, email-list revenue, hotel OTA commissions, and the cost of replacing selected SaaS products with open-source software.
Other tools inspect Google Ads, AdSense, Merchant Center, Meta notices, and possible App Store wrapper problems. Separate quizzes and explainers cover faceless YouTube plans, AI buildout constraints, and patterns such as sound reuse, quote-post piles, stitch chains, and group-chat forwarding.
The Japan tools cover city and month planning, tax-free shopping, residence permit fees, luggage rules, Kyushu travel discounts, customs allowances, and pre-entry tuberculosis screening through JPETS. The repository describes 23 tools, including the JPETS checker.
How it works
Free Agent Tools connects through MCP over streamable HTTP. The production endpoint is https://free-agent-tools.vercel.app/mcp. Calls are stateless or use the server's compatibility handling for older Streamable HTTP clients, and the tools are described as read-only and idempotent.
Inputs are evaluated with fixed formulas, scoring rubrics, quizzes, or dated rule tables. For example, the pitch tool uses five fictional reviewer perspectives, while the luggage and Japan fee tools return results based on specified dates and thresholds. Some tools return links to official sources or generated share assets, but they do not log in to third-party services or perform actions on a user's behalf.
The repository also exposes separate plain JSON APIs for several tools, with CORS enabled and OpenAPI documents. Those APIs are distinct from the MCP endpoint and are not required for MCP use.
Setup and configuration
No API key, account, local package installation, or environment variable is required for the hosted service. Add the HTTP URL as a custom MCP connector in Claude Desktop or web, or configure it in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, or Windsurf. A client that only accepts stdio can use mcp-remote with the same endpoint.
Claude Code uses claude mcp add --transport http free-agent-tools https://free-agent-tools.vercel.app/mcp. Cursor, VS Code, and Windsurf use JSON MCP configuration with the endpoint URL. The repository also provides an MCP Inspector command for listing tools. Local development requires Node package installation and the documented development, test, and end-to-end scripts.
Tools and capabilities
The Free Agent Tools MCP server includes capabilities for:
- Startup pitch scoring, business-moat analysis, pricing, cash recovery, and email-list estimates.
- Hotel OTA commission calculations and open-source SaaS replacement comparisons.
- Google and Meta notice risk checks plus App Store wrapper prechecks.
- AI infrastructure bottleneck explanations and viral-attention quizzes.
- Japan itinerary planning, luggage forwarding estimates, customs, visa-fee, tax-free, discount, and JPETS checks.
Limitations and notes
Free Agent Tools results are not financial, legal, tax, investment, or professional advice. Several outputs are explicitly estimates, heuristics, or educational rules of thumb. Japan travel and policy tools use dated rules and typical seasonal patterns; they may not reflect live availability, changing budgets, current booking inventory, or a final decision by an authority.
The tools do not predict an Apple rejection, investment outcome, advertising enforcement result, or YouTube monetization decision. The customs, visa, tax, luggage, and discount calculations should be checked against the cited official sources and the relevant authority before action. The Kyushu discount budget can run out without notice, and the luggage calculation is an estimate rather than an official ruling.
