What EximAgent MCP server does
The EximAgent MCP server connects supported AI assistants to EximAgent's export-import service. Its capabilities are organized around three areas: Outbound finds importers, buyers, and distributors from customs shipment records and can prepare personalized outreach; Analyst examines trade data such as market size, price trends, trade flows, and company profiles; Compliance supports HS classification, tariffs, landed-cost questions, and OFAC sanctions screening.
The connector can also research a company from its website. Typical requests include identifying importers for a product in a target country, comparing trade routes, profiling a buyer, checking an applicable duty, or screening company and person names against the OFAC list.
How it works
The repository supplies an MCP configuration that points to EximAgent's hosted endpoint at https://mcp.eximagent.ai/mcp. The endpoint uses streamable HTTP and OAuth authentication. After signing in with an EximAgent account, an MCP-compatible assistant can send natural-language requests through the connector.
Two Agent Skills provide additional guidance. The eximagent skill explains which EximAgent agent and tool to use for prospecting, trade analysis, and compliance tasks. The eximagent-cli skill explains how an assistant with terminal access can install and use the separate eximagent command-line tool. The skills can be installed together or individually with the skills CLI.
Setup and configuration
An EximAgent account is required. In Cursor, add the hosted URL under the eximagent MCP server in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then connect through Cursor's MCP settings and complete Google sign-in. Claude Code can register the endpoint with its HTTP transport using claude mcp add, followed by authentication from /mcp. Codex, Claude desktop or web, and Grok Bot have their own documented connection flows.
The repository also supports npx skills add EximAgent/cursor-plugin for assistants that implement Agent Skills. Users already authenticated to the CLI can use its connector commands to write configuration for Cursor or Claude Code.
Tools and capabilities
The EximAgent MCP server supports these grounded workflows:
- Find importers, buyers, and distributors using customs shipment records.
- Analyze market size, price trends, trade flows, and importer profiles.
- Research a company through its website.
- Identify HS codes and investigate tariffs, duties, and landed costs for a trade lane.
- Screen company or person names against OFAC sanctions data.
- Draft personalized outreach messages for discovered buyers.
Limitations and notes
The connector reads the signed-in EximAgent account and EximAgent trade data. It does not read local files, email, or other connected services. Lookups for HS codes, tariffs, sanctions, and trade questions are read-only according to the repository documentation.
The hosted connector requires account authentication and is governed by EximAgent's terms and privacy policy. The repository files themselves are released under the MIT License, but that license does not replace the service terms. The command-line workflow is an alternative when the connector is not configured or when scripts and long lists are more suitable; credentials should be entered through the user's browser rather than pasted into chat.
