What eSIM SOS MCP server does
The eSIM SOS MCP server gives an MCP-compatible agent access to travel eSIM shopping workflows. It can identify destinations by English name, Russian name, or ISO code; list available plans; compare prices across providers; create an unpaid order; check order progress; and return installation guidance after payment.
Plan results include final prices in Russian rubles, with one price shown for each payment method. Price comparisons use the open esimdar.com dataset, which is published under CC BY 4.0. The comparison data includes multiple providers and lists eSIM SOS as one ordinary entry.
Creating an order does not complete payment. The tool returns an order identifier and a payment URL for the person to open and pay. Supported payment methods are Russian fast payments (sbp), Russian bank cards (card), foreign-issued Visa or Mastercard cards (card_foreign), USDT, and TON.
How it works
The eSIM SOS MCP server offers two connection modes. The remote endpoint uses Streamable HTTP at https://esimsos.net/api/mcp and does not require sign-in. The local option runs a thin stdio proxy installed from GitHub with npx -y github:uziame/esimsos-mcp; it forwards requests to the remote service and requires no keys.
A typical workflow starts with search_destinations, followed by list_plans using a country and optional minimum data or duration. compare_prices can provide market prices for a requested data amount. After the user selects a plan, create_order produces the unpaid order and payment link. order_status and install_instructions require both the order ID and the matching email address.
Setup and configuration
For remote use, add https://esimsos.net/api/mcp as a custom MCP server or connector. For local Claude Desktop use, configure the server command as npx with arguments -y and github:uziame/esimsos-mcp, then restart the client. The local setup requires Node.js 18 or newer.
Cursor can use the same remote URL in mcp.json, or the local npx command. Other MCP clients can connect through Streamable HTTP or stdio. ESIMSOS_MCP_URL overrides the endpoint used by the local package, which supports testing against another endpoint.
Tools and capabilities
search_destinations(query) finds a destination by English or Russian name or ISO code.
list_plans(country, min_gb?, days?) returns matching plans and final RUB prices.
compare_prices(country, gb) compares provider prices from the esimdar.com dataset.
create_order(plan_id, email, payment_method?) creates an unpaid order and returns a payment URL.
order_status(order_id, email) reports payment and delivery status when the email matches.
install_instructions(order_id, email) returns an order page with a QR code and iPhone and Android steps.
Limitations and notes
The human must complete payment. The service never receives card details through these tools, and an AI agent does not pay automatically. The email is used for the order and QR code; the documentation states that it is not used for reminders or marketing messages.
Status and installation requests are restricted by requiring both the order ID and the email associated with it. Rate limits apply by email, order, and IP address. Orders made through MCP carry the utm_source=mcp attribution. The project is licensed under MIT.
