What elementor-mcp MCP server does
The elementor-mcp MCP server turns a WordPress installation into an MCP-accessible system for AI clients. Its catalog covers page builders, WordPress content, media, taxonomies, users, settings, plugins, themes, navigation menus, the filesystem, and the database. The exact tools exposed to a client depend on the plugins active on the site, the selected builder, and the tools enabled in the EMCP Tools admin screen.
Elementor is optional. Without it, the plugin can still expose general WordPress capabilities; installing Elementor adds the Elementor page-building family. The project also lists integrations for other builders and block systems, plus conditional integrations for plugins such as WooCommerce, ACF, Meta Box, form builders, SEO plugins, and Elementor addon packs.
How it works
Install the plugin on WordPress, activate it, and use the EMCP Tools connection screen to prepare an MCP client configuration. That screen can generate client-ready configuration containing the site URL and credentials, and it provides a one-click .mcpb bundle for Claude Desktop. Client-specific connection documentation is provided for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code, among others.
The plugin uses the WordPress MCP Adapter, which is bundled and does not require a separate installation. Each tool checks the authenticated WordPress user’s capabilities before operating. Write, delete, and site-wide rendering operations are disabled by default and must be enabled explicitly. Destructive operations also require confirm: true.
Setup and configuration
Download the latest emcp-tools-*.zip release, upload it through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin in WordPress, activate it, and open the EMCP Tools admin menu. The stated requirements are WordPress 6.9 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer. Elementor 3.20 or newer is optional, with Elementor 4.0 or newer required for atomic elements.
Use EMCP Tools → Tools to select available tools and integrations. Availability is not determined solely by the plugin installation: active WordPress extensions, the chosen standalone builder, and enabled tool settings all affect the resulting MCP catalog. Free installations can update through Dashboard → Updates.
Tools and capabilities
The elementor-mcp MCP server supports page construction through Elementor and multiple other builder integrations. It can also expose operations for content and taxonomies, media, users, settings, plugins, themes, menus, filesystem access, and database access.
For inspection and recovery, the project provides one-call page snapshots, public front-end HTML inspection, searches across site pages and templates, a change ledger with rollback, and read-only performance and security scans that return scored reports. Pro adds further tools and integrations; the README lists 225 free tools and 552 total tools with Pro across the supported catalog.
A local, opt-in GSAP 3.15.0 integration is included with Pro. It covers the core library and its 24 distributed plugins, with WordPress handles, context, per-plugin switches, and MCP-based read/write management.
Limitations and notes
Tool availability varies by installed integrations and enabled settings, so catalog totals do not guarantee that every tool will appear on a particular site. Elementor itself is not required for every WordPress installation. Administrators cannot be edited through MCP, no delete-user tool is provided, and filesystem access is restricted to the WordPress root with automatic backups and an audit log.
The project lists the GNU General Public License version 2.0 or later. Sites should be evaluated against the stated WordPress, PHP, and optional Elementor requirements before installation.
