What EK Bridge MCP server does
The EK Bridge MCP server connects MCP clients to Apple Calendar and Reminders while keeping permissions separate for each agent. You choose which calendars and reminder lists an agent can see, then assign actions independently. Calendar permissions can cover Read, Create, Edit, and Delete; reminder lists support Read and Complete access.
An agent starts with no granted access. The app is the component that holds Calendar and Reminders permission, while connected agents send requests through it. This prevents an agent from accessing calendars directly and limits the data returned to the calendars and lists permitted for that connection.
The EK Bridge MCP server also provides approval controls for writes. Before an agent creates, edits, deletes, or completes an item, a panel can show the requested fields and let you allow or deny the operation. You can allow one request, grant a temporary approval window, or configure a trusted script not to ask first.
How it works
Each configured agent receives its own connection and key. Access is evaluated against the selected calendars, reminder lists, and actions. If an agent can read a calendar but lacks a requested write action, EK Bridge can ask for permission rather than applying the change automatically. Requests that receive no response are refused after 45 seconds.
The app records activity by agent and describes refusals. You can pause an individual connection without removing its configuration, remove it entirely, or pause all EK Bridge connections from the menu bar. Optional notifications can report changes that were not made because no one answered.
Twelve tools cover calendar events and reminders. The documented examples include read_events, update_event, create_event, and create_reminder. Supported event data includes time zones, repeat rules, alerts, locations, notes, and links. A typical update first reads an event and then requests an approved change.
Setup and configuration
EK Bridge requires macOS 14 or later and supports both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Install it by downloading the DMG and moving the app to Applications, or by using the Homebrew cask bereciartua/tap/ek-bridge.
On first launch, allow Calendar and/or Reminders access according to the agent’s needs. Add an agent, select its initial access, and use the connection setup for Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Claude Code. The app can show the required settings change, back up the existing configuration, and avoid writing the connection token itself. Other clients can use the command or configuration shown in the connection’s Connect tab.
The repository identifies the app as a public preview with best-effort support. It is notarized by Apple and offers updates that require your confirmation to install.
Tools and capabilities
- Read events from calendars granted to the connected agent.
- Create and update calendar events after the relevant permissions and approvals are satisfied.
- Create reminders in permitted reminder lists.
- Work with recurring events, alerts, time zones, locations, notes, and links.
- Complete reminders when the agent has Complete access to the list.
- Review named activity entries and refusal explanations in the app.
Limitations and notes
Access is limited to Apple Calendar and Reminders on macOS; the provided material does not describe a Windows or Linux version. Agents cannot use calendars or lists that have not been granted to their connection. Remote access for claude.ai and ChatGPT is described as experimental. The project is a personal project in public preview, so support is best effort.
