What EcoBack Local Climate and Energy Tools does
EcoBack Local Climate and Energy Tools MCP server exposes nine tools for indoor climate and household energy questions relevant to Germany and the EU. The calculators cover cooling capacity, heating power, portable air-conditioner window seals, appliance electricity costs, heatwave conditions, and ventilation decisions for damp spaces.
The server also provides a guide-search and guide-reading pair. Search returns matching titles, URLs, and summaries from 133 guides covering topics such as air conditioning, heating, ventilation, dehumidification, window sealing, and electricity costs. Reading a result returns the guide as plain text so an agent can use the source and cite its URL.
How it works
The hosted service is available at https://getecoback.com/mcp/v1 over HTTP and requires no authentication. The same implementation can run locally from the repository with npx github:f-tiger/getecoback-mcp, using stdio and no dependencies. A parity test compares deterministic local results with the hosted endpoint, helping keep both versions aligned.
Several tools use fixed formulas or stated thresholds. Cooling recommendations use 340 BTU per square metre adjusted by a sun factor. Heating uses 60, 80, or 100 watts per square metre based on building standard. Appliance costs use power, operating time, electricity price, and compressor duty cycle. Dew-point calculations use the Magnus formula and account for walls at two degrees below room temperature.
The heatwave tool retrieves current public weather data for Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich through Open-Meteo, then reports the highest temperature over the next three days. It flags values at 28 °C and 32 °C.
Setup and configuration
For a hosted connection, configure an MCP client with an HTTP server named getecoback and the URL https://getecoback.com/mcp/v1. For local execution, configure the command as npx with -y and github:f-tiger/getecoback-mcp as arguments.
No environment variables, credentials, personal data, cookies, or authentication are required by the documented setup. The service records the tool name and arguments for adoption counting, but the README states that it does not store caller identity or other personal data.
Tools and capabilities
geraet_wahl selects a suitable device family for heat, dampness or mould, cold, or stale air, with room-size guidance and a related guide.
btu_empfehlung estimates the cooling capacity and device class for a room.
fensterabdichtung_laenge calculates seal length from window dimensions and suggests a matching retail size for tilt-and-turn or roof windows.
hitzewelle_vorschau reports the near-term heat outlook for Germany.
klimaanlage_stromkosten estimates appliance operating costs by hour, day, or month.
heizleistung_watt estimates required heating power and full-load hourly cost.
taupunkt_lueften assesses whether opening a window could increase dampness.
ratgeber_suche and ratgeber_lesen locate and retrieve citable site guides.
EcoBack Local Climate and Energy Tools MCP server includes source URLs with answers and discloses that the site is funded by Amazon affiliate links. Product recommendations summarize public tests rather than lab testing, and subsidy figures are dated estimates rather than guarantees.
Limitations and notes
The tools are not engineering, legal, or subsidy advice. Subsidy programs may run out of funding during the year. Weather results depend on the public forecast source and the listed German cities. The guide tools retrieve content from getecoback.com, so they are intended for that site's published material rather than general web search.
