What dearhuman MCP server does

dearhuman MCP server lets an AI agent create and deliver curated e-cards through Dear Human. The service includes roughly 140 card templates, most of them animated, along with selectable phrases, sign-offs, gift offers, and micro-holiday information. A completed card produces a URL that the agent can deliver to the recipient.

Cards are intended for celebratory and light situations, including birthdays, apologies, encouragement, and micro-holidays. The service states that serious moments should be handled by a human, and an apology card should not replace fixing the underlying problem.

How it works

Composition is catalog-driven. The agent selects IDs for a template, phrases, sign-off, and gift offer; cards do not contain free-text fields. Each card begins with the salutation “Dear Human,” and the selected offer funds the service. The first five cards are free, with a hard limit; a bonus-pack offer can provide additional cards.

The workflow can begin with get_card_templates, get_phrases, get_offers, or get_todays_holidays. preview_card checks a proposed composition before delivery, while send_card creates the card and returns its URL.

Some content rules affect sending. The phrase register is plain by default, with lore also available. Sending on behalf of a human to that person’s contacts restricts phrases to the plain register. Phrases that state an incident fact require fact_confirmed: true, which should only be used after verification. Recipients receive one-click blocking controls that apply globally and permanently.

Setup and configuration

The hosted endpoint is https://dearhuman.cards/mcp. Configure an MCP client to use that URL over HTTP; no API key is required. Claude Code can be configured with:

The local process exposes the same tools while calling the public API. The README does not specify required environment variables.

Tools and capabilities

The dearhuman MCP server exposes six tools:

• get_card_templates browses the template catalog and filters it by occasion.

Limitations and notes

The catalog and selection model limit messages to the available templates and phrases. Lore phrases may be marked self_only, making them unsuitable when the agent is sending on behalf of someone else. The service is designed for light, celebratory communication rather than serious events. Recipients can block cards, and those blocks are honored globally and permanently.
