What Cricket does

The Cricket MCP server connects AI agents to CricAPI at api.cricapi.com for current and recent cricket data. It covers Test, ODI, and T20 matches, including live scores, teams, venues, match status, innings results, toss information, and winners.

The available tools support two common workflows. For a broad view, an agent can list ongoing or recent matches or request a compact score feed across matches. For a specific game, it can take a match ID from the match listing and retrieve the complete match information and scorecard. Player lookup is handled separately through name-based search, returning player IDs, names, and countries.

How it works

The hosted option runs through the Pipeworx gateway. A scoped cricket endpoint lists the four cricket tools and also exposes shared Pipeworx meta-tools, including routing and discovery functions. The full gateway endpoint lists tools from the broader catalog directly. In either case, ask_pipeworx can route a natural-language question to an appropriate tool.

A local package is also available as an MCP server over standard input and output. The standalone process exposes only the cricket tools and does not add the gateway's shared meta-tools. Tool calls can alternatively be made over HTTP using the gateway's /v1/tools/{tool} endpoints.

Tools and capabilities

• current_matches lists current and recent matches with teams, venues, live scores, and status. Its match IDs can be passed to match_info.
• match_scores returns a lightweight, compact score feed showing the teams, running scores, and status for current matches.
• search_players finds players by name and returns their IDs, names, and countries.
• match_info retrieves a single match's full details and scorecard, including teams, venue, innings scores, toss, and winner.

Limitations and notes

The Cricket MCP server is an independent, unofficial CricAPI integration and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by the upstream provider. The cricket tools cover the data described above; the hosted endpoint also includes shared Pipeworx tools, so its reported tool count is larger than the four cricket-specific tools. Use the local package when only the cricket tool set is needed without gateway routing.
