What the createavataaars MCP server does
The createavataaars MCP server exposes avatar creation and rendering through MCP. It works with seven illustrated avatar styles, including styles such as Avataaars and Notionists. An agent can inspect the available design options before creating an avatar, or select a random template and use its returned code as a starting point.
The service supports two main ways to define an avatar. A caller can provide individual attribute values, or start with an existing code and apply changes. Attribute names and permitted values come from the discovery tools. Passing null or off disables a part of the avatar.
How it works
A typical workflow begins with list_styles, which returns the supported styles and the parts each style can change. list_templates then provides a style’s template codes and previews. For more detailed control, list_attributes returns the available attributes and their named values.
random_avatar selects a template at random and returns its code and preview. create_avatar accepts attributes, or an existing code with modifications, and produces the resulting avatar definition. For consistent assignment, avatar_for_name returns one approved avatar for a name or user ID; the same input produces the same avatar.
Once an avatar code is available, share_link returns its link and page. render_avatar converts one code, or several codes in one request, into image files. A single call can render up to 20 codes, with PNG, SVG, and WebP formats available and a maximum size of 1024 pixels.
Tools and capabilities
list_styles: Inspect styles and the attributes each style supports.
list_templates: Retrieve template codes and previews for a selected style.
list_attributes: Retrieve attribute names and every permitted value.
random_avatar: Select a random template with its code and preview.
create_avatar: Build an avatar from attributes or modify an existing code.
avatar_for_name: Generate a repeatable approved avatar for a name or user ID.
share_link: Get the code’s share link and associated page.
render_avatar: Produce PNG, SVG, or WebP files at a requested size.
Limitations and notes
The createavataaars MCP server only exposes the styles, templates, attributes, and output formats provided by the connected avatar service. Attribute values should be obtained from list_attributes rather than assumed. The material specifies a 1024-pixel rendering limit and a maximum of 20 codes per rendering call. Each rendered file includes its credit inside the file. No installation steps, authentication requirements, client compatibility details, or license information are provided in the supplied material.
