Overview

ClawPage MCP server turns web pages into structured JSON containing fields such as text, tables, prices, contacts, hours, ratings, dates, links, and images. It connects MCP clients to the ClawPage web extraction API through local stdio or Streamable HTTP transport. Use it when an agent needs to collect structured data from arbitrary URLs rather than process page content manually. Accounts include 10 free extractions per day, while prepaid USDC and x402 provide paid access.

Use cases

  • Extract product prices and tables from web pages
  • Collect business contacts, hours, and ratings
  • Turn public pages into structured JSON for an agent workflow
  • Check extraction quota and prepaid USDC balance

Key features

  • Structured web-page extraction

How ClawPage works

What ClawPage MCP server does

ClawPage MCP server gives an MCP client access to the ClawPage web extraction API at https://api.clawpage.xyz. Its main job is converting a supplied web URL into structured JSON. Returned data can include page text, tables, prices, contacts, opening hours, ratings, dates, links, and images.

The service supports both account-based and payment-based use. Registration provides an API key with a cpk_ prefix and a free allowance of 10 extractions per day. Paid access is available through prepaid USDC on Base at $0.01 per extraction, or through x402 anonymous on-chain micropayments. Cached results remain free for 24 hours.

How it works

The extract_url tool receives a URL and API key, then requests a structured extraction from ClawPage. The MCP response contains the extracted JSON, which an agent can inspect or use in later steps.

A new user can call register with an email address to create an account and obtain credentials. account_info reports the remaining free extractions and current USDC balance. For prepaid access, add_wallet associates a wallet address with the account, and deposit credits the account after an on-chain USDC transfer.

The default transport is stdio, which suits local MCP clients. Passing --http starts Streamable HTTP on port 8080, making the server suitable for remote connections and browser-based agents. The port can be changed with MCP_PORT.

Setup and configuration

Run the server with:

Terminal
npx clawpage-mcp

For Streamable HTTP, run:

Terminal
npx clawpage-mcp --http

A Claude Desktop configuration can launch the stdio server through npx:

config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clawpage": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["clawpage-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

After startup, call register to obtain an API key, then provide that key when using extract_url. The HTTP transport listens on port 8080 unless MCP_PORT specifies another port.

Tools and capabilities

ClawPage MCP server exposes five tools:

  • register: Creates an account and returns a cpk_ API key with 10 free daily extractions.
  • extract_url: Converts a URL into structured JSON, including supported content such as text, tables, prices, contacts, hours, and ratings.
  • account_info: Shows remaining free extractions and USDC balance.
  • add_wallet: Links a wallet address for prepaid USDC deposits.
  • deposit: Applies credit for an on-chain USDC transfer.

Limitations and notes

The free allowance is limited to 10 extractions per day. Anonymous x402 payments are also supported. Cache hits are free for 24 hours. The material does not specify extraction behavior for particular page types, rate limits beyond the free allowance, or the exact JSON schema for each content category.

Frequently Asked Questions about ClawPage

ClawPage is an MCP server that connects AI clients to the ClawPage web extraction API. Its main tools register accounts, extract URLs into structured JSON, check account balances, associate wallets, and credit prepaid USDC deposits. Extracted fields can include text, tables, prices, contacts, hours, ratings, dates, links, and images.

Install and run it with `npx clawpage-mcp`. The default mode uses stdio for local MCP clients. To expose Streamable HTTP for remote connections, run `npx clawpage-mcp --http`; it listens on port 8080 unless `MCP_PORT` changes the port.

Call `extract_url` with the target URL and an API key. The tool sends the page to the ClawPage extraction API and returns structured JSON that may contain text, tables, prices, contacts, hours, ratings, dates, links, and images.

Yes, registered accounts receive 10 free extractions per day. Use `register` with an email address to create an account and receive a `cpk_` API key. Cache hits are free for 24 hours.

ClawPage supports prepaid USDC on Base at $0.01 per extraction and anonymous x402 on-chain micropayments. Use `add_wallet` to associate a wallet and `deposit` to credit the account after an on-chain transfer.
